Trying to move away from google and this is one of the obstacles preventing me from completely leaving google for proton. Would like to see this implemented.

I've been a paying Proton user for over 3 years, and am waiting semi-patiently for this feature to come out. Would be really nice to sync contacts with my smartphone and have a Contacts specific app that is more robust and allows for full contact management across platforms and devices. C'mon Proton! What's taking so long?? Thanks in advance for rolling this one out!

Contacts can be manually exported and sync with proton drive but this is not a good use case. I would love to see a feature that can automatically syncs contacts. Other vendors provide this kind of things even in the operating system level for phones but since we love Proton and trying to protect our privacy, it would be really awesome if auto contact sync is provided.

I don't even need synching with the native apps! I just need a real contacts app. Or put the contacts button at the top of the mail app! Let me group contacts that don't have email addresses. Let me search for contacts. Please.

Please make this an automated bidrectional sync 😀👍 Your Google Import does a great job. Now you just need to add its compliment: Google Contact Sync (automated!)

I am trying to move away from Google. The fact that the protonmail contacts are not available in the dialler makes this much more difficult.... at least with Proton.

Include functionality to select which fields to sync. I would only sync phone numbers so that I can use it with phone and messaging apps like Signal. Better yet, have a Proton Contacts that can be the default contacts app in Android.

I am a satisfied Proton user but there are things I can't understand:
the apps, at the moment, are not entirely consistent with the web app. Frankly, I don't understand why. If the solution is so far from becoming, why not delete the apps for the moment and urge users to use the web platform?
The problem of contacts that, at the moment forces you to keep two separate address books (google and proton) was presented in 2019 and, five years later, never resolved. Keeping two address books or making cumbersome imports with questionable results, does not make Proton an alternative service. Wouldn't it be a good idea to get to work by creating an effective synchronization or creating an app that allows you to use Proton contacts on smartphones too?
These are problems complained about by many and that contrast with Proton's replacement philosophy... -

How long is this going to stay planned? Another 4 years?

Without that feature Proton contacts is worthless because you have to use another service to sync your contacts.

Yes, contacts sync is a great miss and has been ever since protonmails inception.
Please make this happen finally, I am tired of waiting. This really is basic and important functionality.

I've been trialling the free version of Proton Mail since December 2022 but I won't migrate to it nor pay for any paid plans until Proton contacts can be synchronised with an Android phone. So hoping that this feature will be implemented soon as I'm otherwise very keen to make the switch to Proton!

This needs to be moved higher on the priority list! Such a huge time waster, managing two Contacts apps on our mobile devices. Make Proton Contacts its own mobile app, then we'll be efficient again.
