Sorting by date, sender, subject, subject A to Z or Z to A
Every other email I've used allows sorting by date, sender, subject. A to Z or Z to A (not the same as filtering by key word)

I can't believe that after all these years and all these requests sorting by sender is not possible. My inbox just keeps growing and I don't have the time to go through them one by one. Sorting by sender is so easily in Outlook and allows me to delete emails in groups. It is why I continue to use Outlook.

And sorting by RECEIVED date time... I just ****** away an hour waiting on an acct confirmation email that appeared in Proton as having arrived 4 frigging hours before I created the account.

ditto. when away from client/bridge, if even for convenience on mobile, not being able to sort is the worst. since this function has been missing for several years, it's not a mistake but intentional. also, display- 'today,' yesterday,' last week- with no option to simply get date/time is awful. both very unhelpful and do not think it drives free accts to paid. plus, once paid, same stuff. poor product decisions

We definitely need more robust sorting to keep the inbox organized!

We need to be able to sort the middle column by date. Now all emails displayed with newest on the bottom!

The option to sort by sender/subject/date/etc. would be fundamental both for the Web interface (and Desktop app) and Android/iOS apps.
One cannot always access Thunderbird or Outlook with Bridge to sort from there.
Please consider adding this basic option in the next iterations. -

Does anyone know how I can send my protonmail file into outlook, sort and delete, then send it back to protonmail? That may be the wrong way to say it, but that's the end result I am looking for.

How can this be missing since 2017 seriously

This should include sorting by Recipient (i.e. my Proton Aliases). I have set up my aliases to reflect certain correspondents or online account registration types/purposes.
Sorting is different to filters/labels and more efficient for certain task. Most email clients have this feature since the beginning of the Internet! -

My emails at Proton are well up into the thousands and will continue to grow indefinitely until I can sort by sender, group and delete. It is the one thing that keeps me from moving all my emails to Proton. How much wasted server space is there as a result of this.

This is extremely important if you need to track a conversation with multiple mails

Sorting by correspondent like newest/oldest and largest/smallest. Thank you

Please enable this functionality. Sort by date, sender, subject, etc.
This is so useful for managing my email for many reasons: to delete groups of messages from the same person, to find messages about particular topics, to tag/label messages, etc.

This thread goes back at least five years. Proton clearly does not want to allow us to sort the emails by date or by sender. I would like to know why they don't want to do this.
I still see my comment from 2020 and 2021. Like many other posters I have several thousand emails, most of which I would want to delete. Like others I have started this several times and then gave up. I don't have the time to waste in that fashion. I started again to day and then quit. This is also the reason why I still continue to use my outlook email address.
I would not be surprised if more than half of the proton server space would not be needed if we could sort and delete by sender.

Hi, (UPDATE)
Your post along with several of my own posts and hundreds by others beseeching Proton to add various forms of email sorts has resulted in no enhancements. I finally gave up.On my windows computer I set up the "Proton Mail Bridge" using IMAP to MS Outlook. Now Outlook is my "front end" or user interface. Apparently there is a similar bridge for macOS.
My emails are still in Proton. I can do most of the sorting and email cleanup I want in Outlook and it supports PMs labels. And as long as I don't save my emails to MS servers, my emails are still with Proton. Outlook's interface is better, I am really paying for PMs security.
I continue to use native PM on my mobile devices, but sort and cleanup my emails on my windows computer in my home office. Another advantage to Outlook, while PM supports the use of email extensions using a plus "+" sign, it does not allow the sending of new emails with the extensions. You can only send emails from PM with the email addresses set up in PM, but in Outlook you can use the plus extensions.
Hope that is a possible solution for you. Cheers.

I've had Protonmail since 2019 but am just now realliy trying to make it my email address of choice. That means managing all the old messages I've got sitting in my inbox (nearly 1500!).
Unless I can sort them by sender so I can delete swaths of them at a time (I *can* do that, can't I?), then it's going to be functionally impossible to sort and delete that number of emails.
And if I can't do that, then I'll probably just continue using my old email address (that I've had since 1986). -

In the INBOX and ALL FOLDERS, where you have the column headers:
All; Read; Unread; Newest (up and down arrows)
above all emails. Please could you add to the column defaulted 'Newest (up and down arrows)' two additional filters:
Sender (Down and Up arrows or A-Z)
Sender (Up and Down arrows or Z-A)Thank you.
This would enable users to locate emails much more easily, especially if you can only recall the first part of a sender's name.

Being able to sort by Sender is an indispensable feature for clearing one's Inbox. I wish to sort by Sender and then select all – so then I can easily move that sender's emails into their own folder – by the dozens sometimes.

promotes superior ease of use, rather than hunt and peck in a search ( example, for senders --maybe to delete older emails, or just delete them in one swipe) Thanks
