Sorting by date, sender, subject, subject A to Z or Z to A
Every other email I've used allows sorting by date, sender, subject. A to Z or Z to A (not the same as filtering by key word)

I'm hoping to switch to Proton but currently use both Gmail and Hotmail. Hotmail allows sorting by sender but Gmail does not. It's so much easier to organize and manage my emails in Hotmail because of this simple feature.
Unlike Gmail, Proton doesn't need to withhold this feature in a misguided attempt to force users to "search, don't sort." Please implement this functionality.

Being able to sort by Sender or Subject is the quickest way to cleanup a mailbox and tag.

Why am I using the Proton Mail desktop client when I need to create a Proton Mail account in Thunderbird to sort my mail by date, sender, subject, or subject A to Z or Z to A? This borders on the absurd. Is the fix in the pipeline?

The main reason I'm not using Proton a lot: New e-mails from same sender (ie. the so called "thread" not the main window which has data sorting) are displayed with newest on the bottom.
When you click on a new email you also open all that particular sender's emails.
BUT! ...You have to scroll ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM to find that email.
And: Often I am "thinking" I'm reading the newest email when infact it is the oldest unopened email because that is at the top... -

Missing sorting by sender is an intense frustration and a reason I have not rolled out Proton to the business. It certainly feels basic features aren't interesting enough as rolling out new apps.

Very helpful in deleting large quantities of email to have the capability of sorting alphabetically

How many votes does it take to be considered? This suggestion forum is useless.

I can't believe that after all these years and all these requests sorting by sender is not possible. My inbox just keeps growing and I don't have the time to go through them one by one. Sorting by sender is so easily in Outlook and allows me to delete emails in groups. It is why I continue to use Outlook.

And sorting by RECEIVED date time... I just ****** away an hour waiting on an acct confirmation email that appeared in Proton as having arrived 4 frigging hours before I created the account.

ditto. when away from client/bridge, if even for convenience on mobile, not being able to sort is the worst. since this function has been missing for several years, it's not a mistake but intentional. also, display- 'today,' yesterday,' last week- with no option to simply get date/time is awful. both very unhelpful and do not think it drives free accts to paid. plus, once paid, same stuff. poor product decisions

We definitely need more robust sorting to keep the inbox organized!

We need to be able to sort the thread by date. Now all emails displayed with newest on the bottom!

The option to sort by sender/subject/date/etc. would be fundamental both for the Web interface (and Desktop app) and Android/iOS apps.
One cannot always access Thunderbird or Outlook with Bridge to sort from there.
Please consider adding this basic option in the next iterations. -

Does anyone know how I can send my protonmail file into outlook, sort and delete, then send it back to protonmail? That may be the wrong way to say it, but that's the end result I am looking for.

How can this be missing since 2017 seriously

This should include sorting by Recipient (i.e. my Proton Aliases). I have set up my aliases to reflect certain correspondents or online account registration types/purposes.
Sorting is different to filters/labels and more efficient for certain task. Most email clients have this feature since the beginning of the Internet! -

My emails at Proton are well up into the thousands and will continue to grow indefinitely until I can sort by sender, group and delete. It is the one thing that keeps me from moving all my emails to Proton. How much wasted server space is there as a result of this.

This is extremely important if you need to track a conversation with multiple mails
