Block sender
It would be great to be able to block certain email addresses from being able to send you emails. Not just a filter to go to “spam” but being able to actually block the sender totally

With my catch-all email address, I use a different email for each account I setup online. Sometimes, that email is leaked or sold and my Spam starts filling up. I'd like a way to be able to burn specific email addresses so any email going to that is bounced back to the sender as undelivered. I know I can filter them to the trash as read, but I'd like to completely remove the possibility that the spammer knows it's a valid email address.

please for the love of all things Holy, CREATE a bounce/block/reject option! Something that will deliver a message to the sender that it was rejected. Wanna make sure we get the point across to the sender.....

Dear Protonmail. There is this new trend that instead of spamming you once, they add you to a drip-spam-campaign which is really annoying. I'm currently going through the process of creating filters for each sender that does this, it takes loads of actions though, so often I don't go through the hassle. Having a button on emails to quickly add them to a ban list, that would instant trash all emails coming either from the exact sender or the entire domain, would be a huge time saver for me.

I vote for a Bounce feature as well.... Email has become so cumbersome I am tempted to quit it all and do phone texting only.

To have a option selected when sending a email, and get bounce-back messages for successfully delivered messages. Giving us the physical/documented proof that the email was sent and, at least, arrived to the server recipient. This was one of the main reasons that I upgraded to PRO, thinking that had this feature embedded :)

Please, for the love of god implement this! It's super low-hanging fruit that should be very easy to code.

I desperately need the block/bounce feature! Recently, I made a purchase on a catalog website. I think that is where all the spam I'm now getting originated. I've been permanently deleting these messages, and went so far as to filter a few of them, but they use different addresses each time, so filtering is futile.

Filtering, blacklisting and moving to spam is not enough. The point here is to bounce unwanted emails and make the email address look invalid.
We are asking a "Bounce Button" feature:

I am the daily victim of a targeted campaign. Cleaning out the SPAM folder every day is not a sufficient solution.
We need a proper black hole filter.

completely support such idea email is moving more garbage than actual useful info.

I have to say, it's very disheartening to see that there are a large number of posts going back at least 3 years with these requests to better handle spam detection (backend) and UI controls (frontend) for users.
Are there any plans or discussions to either address these concerns or at least an official response regarding the handling of spam messages in protonmail?
Thanks

If your tech team would take a look at Yahoo email, they would see the ease of a right click on sender to block from ever having to see them again. The sender is completely blocked, not sent to spam, trash or anywhere, just blocked.
If they can do it at Yahoo I'm sure it can't be that hard. -

Please develop a tool for blocking spam from senders who will not let you unsubscribe from their fundraising harassments. Case in point: Dudley Brown slams me as often as he can hit the resend key, and uses Rand Paul to legitimize his harassment.

If someone is sending harassing emails, or spam, or whatever other types of unwanted emails, it would be nice to have a button/checkbox to set to "block sender", and then have all messages from that address be deleted even before they hit your inbox.

Please add it to the current filter options :)

There are several similar requests. Just sending to spam is a useful stopgap but as mentioned by others, if you're being harassed it's better to be able to block the mail entirely. Another feature request like this mentioned to just auto-delete them.

My current workflow involves marking all emails I don't actively need in the future as spam so I can scroll through and bulk delete them, keeping my storage requirements low. The automatic marking of these messages as blocked breaks that, so I'd like to be able to toggle it at will
