sync Android notifications properly
When getting a mail, we receive notification on mobile. If we read the mail from web, it does not clear the notification on mobile.
worse: sometime, I got a mail on web, read it, and got a notification on mobile nonetheless.

I actually appreciate having the notfication persist on my phone even though it's been read on my PC: my wife checks the account too and she may have read something that I have not. I suggest having the option to sync them or not as the user chooses.

Still laggy sometimes. Should be as smooth as Gmail.

This would be useful even if the synchronizing of the 2 interfaces was delayed.
After days away from my PC, answering and reading emails via mobile, I come back to a dozen "you have new email" nonsense.
I read the email. I don't want to read it again.
Yahoo, Gmail, GMX and others all manage to do this.

How is it possible that this basic, rudimentary issue is still unresolved after 4 YEARS since it was posted here?
I backed Protonmail since it was on Kickstarter, I beta tested, supported and been a paying member ever since. The Android notification experience (including how it groups and merges notifications on your lockscreen) which year after year remain unresolved have eroded my patience and really make me reconsider if my yearly fees are worth it.
@Protonmail: Why focus on developing new services like Proton Drive when you still haven't resolved basic mobile notifications issues which have been reported for YEARS? (For what its worth, after years of basic yet unresolved Android issues, I've chosen to pay for another zero-knowledge drive service hosted in Switzerland before coming close to Proton Drive... thats how much faith I have left).

Bonjour

Yes please. I just now turned off android notifications because this is too annoying. I usually use a PC at work, so when I go back to my phone, there will be a notification saying I have emails that are new, that really aren't. And the number goes up and up until I manually open the app.

I think the one thing that bugs me the most on the mobile email client is that new message notification message count is almost always WRONG.
When I am at my desk, I use my PC to read messages through the web client. This is great an all, but my Android Phone does NOT seem to care if I read them at all.
Say I have a new mail, I will get notification on my phone and PC that I have new mail. I read it on my PC. So no more unread. When another message comes in, my PC shows ONE unread message, but my Android notification shade shows 2 new mails. Even after dismissing the notification.
GMail and Outlook clients seem to be able to sync this and keep it all sorted, but it would be nice for the Proton Mail app to have this as well so I know how many new mails I actually have when not at my PC. The only way to "reset" this is the open the client on my phone and have it realize that there are no new messages, then it starts all over.

It's been such a long time, literally every other app has this basic issue sorted from the start. Protonmail is the only app I've ever seen where notifications are not synced when emails are read elsewhere.
