The extra step of marking it read before archiving takes minutes from me every day. I came to the help section to see if there was something I was missing because I am ready to cancel my service over this one issue.

Every other mail service I have ever used did this automatically or gave you an option to do it. This one feature is do or die for me.

It does appear that Archiving is a 1 step or nothing option in PM.

I was able to re-organise the bottom bar in the settings, change the effects of the swipe actions, but I cannot, for the life of me, find a setting to enable "Mark as Read" on archival...

I have now started using archive like I do for work emails, I am shocked this is not implemented yet. All other email services do this automatically. This adds at least one more keystroke for every email and multiple actions on mobile per email.

I agree. There should be at least an option to mark messages read while archiving. Personally I don't see a use case for archiving a message that I'd want to keep as unread.

I like Proton Mail, but this is a user experience pain that I feel multiple times a day. At least let us make a filter that can act on archived mails that are marked unread.

Absolutely essential

This is the one feature still missing after years with Proton that stands out to me on a daily basis in terms of extra time and user hassle.

This is the one feature I miss from (Google inbox). There are mails that I want to receive (e.g., confirmation if something gets purchased), but where all the information I need is in the subject line.

Those mails, I want to keep, but dismiss as easily as possible. To me that means: archive & mark as read.

It could be as simple as a toggle in the settings, like a checkbox for "Mark archived items as read". Same for mobile.

This would make my life MUCH easier. I have to periodically goto my archive folder and mark as read. The unread icon bugs me and begs for action--which is annoying :/

This would be a great QOL feature that makes it easy for us to dismiss messages that we don't need to pay attention to, but just need archived for later.
