Different inbox for each custom email address/alias
For each custom email address/alias, a specific inbox. Or at the very least, the ability to sort emails by which email alias/address they came from.

Only use one mailbox. I want to be able to SORT all of the emails by: Correspondent or Date, or Subject just like I have been able to do since email started until Google and Opera, Proton et al decided to "improve" on what was not broken and now made it much less useful. It used to be straightforward and simple. Why does "new and improved" always mean more work for the end user?

I desperately need and want there to be a sub-account or some kind of sub-email splitting.. Having everything in one inbox is so frustrating I've been scouring this site and others, and now am heavily considering just deleting all my proton emails and moving elsewhere.

Absolutely. This is the main reason I signed up for unlimited: to detach from google and re-organize all of my mailboxes. Hope it comes soon.

This would be super useful - i have this feature in Thunderbird

As an option please. Sometimes I want an alias as a second mailaddress for my (main) inbox. Sometimes a second email address (on a domain name) needs to be a separate mailbox.

It would be great to have some separation between aliases instead of a unified inbox given that I would use aliases for different purposes such as keeping personal and professional contacts separated or an alias dedicated to accounts likely to send me spam. Otherwise, I'm back to square one and creating additional accounts for this purpose instead of managing them under a singular account that I'm paying for. The folder/filter trick mentioned in other comments feels like a kludgy way of attaining the kind of separation that separate inboxes affords. I feel a good template is the way K-9 mail gives you a "unified inbox" but you can still drill down into each address separately.

I don't understand this request because it's already possible with filters. The only problem I see is that you cannot use snooze in the custom folder for the address/alias inbox. Because snooze only works on the primary inbox.

Instead of different system Inboxes for each custom email address/alias, consider using Filters with Conditions set to "If the recipient matches somedomain" to move them automatically into specific Folders such as "somedomain" which you created beforehand.

yeah, there needs to be a way to separate each custom email address. Lumping all email into the same inbox is not helpful for end user.

Why does Chase appear before my proton email address when received by other email servers?

Let's say your main email address you use is Johndoe@protonmail.com
Now lets say you just created Johndoe@pm.me, to use for purely FINANCIAL matters (could be anything, bills, family, whatever). But whatever gets sent to this email address you know is going to be financially related because you used it for the setup of that financial account.
What I am proposing is that Proton mail allow us to switch between these different alias's we have created, to FILTER all the message in our inbox, ONLY SHOWING what messages have been sent to that specific Alias in our inbox.
Currently, my inbox shows EVERY message I get to all my alias's. That's kind of annoying. This would allow more organization and it's like employing a completely new set of folders for you.
Lets do it!!

It would be helpful maybe.
Automatic labels would be helpful too.
A Direct access to filter messages by alias.

As part of this implementation, it would also be nice if one could set the default inbox displayed upon login.

Hi everyone,
Sorry new guy here so I'm not sure how all of that works.
So as I was saying I'm new here and a family member recommended me ProtonMail to get out of my google account loop hole with multiple accounts for specific usage (main/shop/business/etc..)
I was really happy to see that we can create multiple e-mail addresses attached to one account, to be honest that's what made me taking the Plus subscription.
But something that I haven't see is the possibility to have seperated windows or like "sub-account" pages for those e-mail addresses.
Basicaly it seems like everything arrive in the same inbox but there is no way to have a page with only one e-mail address and where the reply is only with this same address.Basically my plan is to forward my gmails account to their specific e-mail adresses and having the possibility to see only the mails from e-mail A and not A, B, C, and D.
I'm really sorry if there is already a request for that kind of idea, if it's the case, you can merge my idea to the other one or I just delete my request and vote for the already requested one.
Thanks and have a great day

Please do not combine all email accounts in one inbox, I prefer separate inboxes for each email account and not all combined in one please

The option to create a new, corresponding Inbox for each of the aliases you have or make.
As it is now, if you have five different aliases, all of their email gets dumped into the main inbox. The only way to change that is to make a condition so that it gets sent to a folder, but even after doing that you still have to scroll down to the folder section to see if anything has been received and moved there.

Honestly, mirror inbox features of the mail service that starts with a G. and the navigation of the mail app that's fruit flavored. That would make switching to your service far more seamless. If I'm searching for an email and I know which inbox it is in I should be able to search for that email in that inbox, and not have to sift through other emails. Especially if it's a manual search because I can't remember the search term. Even if I am entering a search term though, having to sift through hundreds of unrelated emails is really frustrating.

I couldn't agree more. Some of us use separate email addresses under a given domain for different types of mail/different sources. Having the the option of sorting added addresses (for a custom domain) on the side bar with their own respective Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Deleted, folders would solve so many issues. I'm glad Proton realizes that one user can have multiple email addresses, but this needs to translate to multiple INBOXES. Add this as a setting we can toggle if we don't want a unified inbox for all addresses please!
