Looking back over the comments about not being able to open a PDF file without having to download it first and seeing that after years of complaints you still haven't changed it is very disturbing. It is time you made this change, I am guessing some of the users who complained about this have moved to other encrypted mail servers by now. I really like Protonmail, but I get more PDF files to read than any other type so it is past time you made this available to us.

I'm in publishing, so I view doc/docx's ALL DAY. I moved to Protonmail to keep my business safe. Being required to download email attachments is an absurd discovery -- If I knew this ahead of time, I wouldn't have moved over. Please allow previews.

There should be the option to preview the files and the owner should have the option to restrict the download of the files and only allow previewing it as we have in google drive. This would be a really helpful feature.

Also I would like more space with my protonmail premium account. 5 GBs is very less. It should start with at least 10-15 Gbs

Yeah this is a no-brainer of a feature that needs to be added.

Joined proton to protect my business and I open a lot of attachments from clients. I can not view in mail. This is just crazy Im paying for this and I am having to forward to my old Gmail to view.

I would like to be able to open and view an attachment without downloading it every time I want to view it. It's available on every other major email provider. New to proton mail and love it but this lack of a very basic feature is very annoying and time consuming to not just open but to then have to find the multiple downloads and delete them.

Yes! Sometimes I want to download/save an attachment, and sometimes I just want to view it. Downloading an attachment I just want to view clutters up my device.

The possibility to preview attachments is something I really miss after my paid switch from gmail. This is an essential function for a modern and efficient mail system. I hope you can move this high up on your to-do list.

Planned since 2015? This is the major drawback for me. I want to preview pictures before downloading.

I just noticed tonight that some attachments can be previewed. I have a paid account.

Need to be able to preview/open an attachment, without having to download, save, select, etc. Its not rocket science.

I get this easily with the PM android app, but I recently got my elderly father to switch to PM, (paid version), but he only uses the web. As such, he got fed up trying to download pics and went back to Gmail.

Not sure if he would be eligible for a partial refund, but maybe if PM realizes they are losing customers
(money) they might give customers what they've been asking for, for a long time.

Can you please enable display pdf attachments without downloading them (like in Gmail): it will be very convenient and quick to read them.

When uploading pictures you cant view a preview looking at the whole folder. You have to basically toggle in slideshow view to see the pictures and it moves way slow :(

In other mail services (outlook, gmail, yahoo, etc) you can preview a lot of diferents files (pdf, doc, jpg, png, etc) without the need to download them. The lack of this feature reduces productivity a lot.

on web, when we click on attachment, it downloads to computer.
we don't always need to download the attachment.
if you can provide a way to view the attachment when clicked on it and download the file would be optional.

I switched to ProtonMail and really enjoy it, however the inability to view a document without downloading it is driving me nuts. I thought I had the settings incorrect, but see others have this problem too. I don't have it with any of my other email accounts. The nature of my work requires me to view documents constantly from many different people. It takes too long to download then navigate to the file to open. Many times I have downloaded the same document because I like to access them from the email thread and not my hard drive. Please, I beg you to add this feature.

I don't miss the shared documents that much, but being able to preview the attachments is such a basic thing to add.
