  1. Option for searching trash

An option to search emails in trash would be helpful. Circumstances change. Occasionally, it is necessary to try to go back and find an email that was sent to the trash. I see this as an additional option in Search In >> Other >> Trash.

  2. Only upload new photos to Proton Drive

When commencing photo backup/upload from mobile device, only upload new photographs from the date of activation to Proton Drive.

Mostly previous photos would already be backed up elsewhere.

  3. Filter Condition Based on Time

Ability to make the filter condition based on time the email has existed. I want to automatically move emails to my junk after they've been in my inbox for more than 1 year.

  4. collaps all sub-folders

Have all sub-folders collapsed on all platforms.
With many folders it is chaos with all opened sub-folders.
    Thanks in advance.

  5. Change Settings Sidebar Behaviour

The Settings button at the top right opens a sidebar with quick settings. However, these quick settings are not something you would change frequently once you have set them up.

I certainly don't change my layout, disable keyboard shortcuts or change the app theme very often. Instead, I heave a frustrated sigh when I realize once again that I have to press another button just to get to the main settings page.

It would be nice if there were actually frequently changed settings in the sidebar (e.g. filters, autoreply or signatures) or even better if it was customizable. Alternatively, this…

  7. Resume previous view of mail on startup

When opening the mail app, and you had it viewing a particular folder or other area, add a toggle to restore the previous view on startup. This would be very useful, if you were working on organizing a particular folder or label.

  8. Email Aliases need a rework, especailly when writing new messages

I have a number of issues with Email Aliases. I think the most important change is that they are largely invisible to the end-user and that's actually a bad idea. I am never particularly confident that they are working because I can't see them working.

For example, if I reply to an email, the application shows the reply coming from my main email address and not the alias. It should show the alias.

But when I write a new email, sometimes the recipient is NOT in my Contacts so I need to choose an Alias and that, currently is impossible.…

  9. Stop embedding email message controls in message bodies!

Currently, and decidedly awkwardly, PM has the propensity to embed message controls (delete, filter, etc.) in the message view area. These embedded controls then scroll out of view when the message is scrolled. That is awkward, if not down right bad design (in my humble opinion).

Please redesign Proton Mail to better handle message handling/manipulation and keep controls OUT of the acrual message body(!). BTW, I think the header info should be divorced from the actual message (unless the user chooses to view the message in a more raw form).

  10. Local Scribe support in Firefox

Considering Proton's push for privacy, Scribe should support Firefox, not just Chromium. Only supporting Google-driven browsers seems somewhat counter to Proton's goal.

  11. Have an 'Unsorted' item for Folders, and 'Unlabelled' item for labels

All Mail can sometimes end up with mail itens in there that have no label or folder. There is currently no way to filter out emails that have no folder or label.

My proposal is to either have the items 'Unsorted' and 'Unlabelled' in the left bar OR in the search dialog have an item there we can click that will specifically bring up email that has no folder or label.

  13. Improve Proton Mail documentation to include best practice/common usage scenarios

I'm still "on the fence" about whether to go back using Thunderbird rather than Proton Mail. I must say, that Proton Mail has been the first email client(s) that have me using it rather than TBird. However, as I find various idiosyncracies of Proton Mail that I find subpar, I'm thinking about using TBird primarily (I currently use both as I evaluate over time, but for the past few months, I have been primarily using Proton Mail). I'm not yet up to speed on using the various email addresses available in Proton Mail, so more guidance in the documentation would…

  14. Make the folder tree display of the phone app collapsible

The folder display of the phone app shows the tree of folders always expanded, making navigation in the app tedious. Make the folder tree branches collapsible/expandable (which is very expected for a tree control).

  15. UX / User Interface of E-Mail List Improvements

The current e-mail list in Proton Mail is very unintuitive for the eye and for the user interactions. It is one blend of text, since there is no differentiation of font weight or color.

There should be a clear differentiation in font weight or color between "from" and "subject" line. The Spark email app can be a great reference for that.

Spark also has an amazing feature, which is pinning important e-mails to the top of the list. This is such a game changer for e-mails that need follow-up, but I still want to see in my inbox list. Just…

  16. Option to disable notifications for the Inbox

Desktop/mobile notifications can currently be disabled for specific folders, but not the the Inbox itself.

Please add an option to disable notifications for the Inbox. It would make it possible to receive notifications only for messages that match specific filters, which I think is a very common requirement.

  17. Add "description" for "my addresses"

Please add a "description" column under "my addresses" so we can label what each email address is being used for. This seems like an easy fix. Thanks!

  18. Android parity to iOS app

    Hello!
Please speed up the development of your android application. Your iOS app has features that are not in the Android app. It just seems like a shame. Could you please speed up adding anti-tracking features (tracker blocking and picture uploads with IP hiding) to the android app as well? It would also be desirable to add the toolbar customization feature as well.

Please note that all these features are already available in iOS application, while there are practically no innovations in Android application. This is just a shame and shame for such a huge company.

  19. Remember last snooze

Add the previous used snooze date to the drop down.

Ex. If I snooze one email on Friday the 13th september at 09:00, show this again if I want to snooze another email-

    Saves clicks.

  20. Better workflow of running filters (filtering existing emails)

It seems that there's a (very narrow) limit of how many filtering processes can be run at the same time and with a large mailbox the filtering processes can take significant amount of time.
This doesnt affect the incoming emails, but is a huge problem when someone creates new filters to parse existing emails.
There are actually three different problems here but with a same root cause:
    1. Proton doesnt allow queueing filtering processes.
    2. When adding a new filter from an existing email and marking "Apply to existing emails" while another filtering process(es) is/are running, there's no warning/error message…
