"Low Resource" mode
I work on resource-constrained systems very frequently, either because the systems themselves are small and/or have slow internet connections, or because I do a tremendous amount of multitasking for business development. I also spend a lot of time working alongside people who cannot regularly afford to shell out thousands on increasingly expensive consumer devices (phones, laptops).
GMail used to have a "slow internet connection" feature where it could render the Inbox in "HTML mode", using way less CSS, comparatively basic HTML, and just the core JS required for the features available. A benefit of that was that it also literally…

Preview email message text
It would be great to have an option to have a preview of the email message contents in the list of emails under each email subject header like you can do on Apple Mail (which also has an option for how many lines you want to preview). This allows you to scan through the list of emails and get an idea of their contents before choosing which ones to view first.

Restrict undo in "Insert Link"/"Edit Link" menu
When in the "Insert Link"/"Edit Link" menu, editing one of the text inputs, undo (Ctrl+z) applies to the mail composer behind the menu modal (undoing changes to the body and subject of my email). This behavior was unexpected to me and could cause me to undo changes to an email without realizing. I suggest restricting undo to only apply to form fields in the active menu.

Remove link in "Edit Link" menu
In the email text editor, the only way I know how to remove a hyperlink is by selecting the link text and clicking the "Clear all formatting." At least, I think this removes the link...
It would be more intuitive if in the "Edit Link" menu (select link text and press "Insert Link" or Ctrl+k) there were a big red button that said "Remove" that would convert the link to normal text.

Notifier for ProtonMail
I'm really dissatisfied with the email notification feature provided by ProtonMail. After I enabled the notification for incoming emails, I started getting alerts for subscription emails, which disrupted my focus and was incredibly frustrating. So, I ended up developing my own extension to notify me when new emails arrive.
Here are some features of my plugin:
You can toggle email notifications on or off.
You can set filtering criteria to block notifications for less important emails.
If you're also unhappy with the notification feature in the web version of ProtonMail, you might want to check out this Chrome extension: ProtonMail…1 vote -
Allow ProtonMail to be used as an SMTP client
It would be useful if we could use ProtonMail as a SMTP client, so from an account like account@proton.me, I could connect to the Google SMTP servers and send email as account@gmail.com. This would allow full support of both email addresses indefinitely while maily using the ProtonMail applications (I would never open GMail), but also it would allow to test ProtonMail for a while, with no risk, while considering migration (GMail would still have all the emails in there, since it stores emails sent through SMTP).
This is similar to how GMail can use third party SMTP to…

subscription bot attack denial
I'm a public individual and I often declare war on india, leading to 1.4 billion angry people. many sign up my public email for a subscription bot attack where i get hundreds of emails an hour signing me up for email subscriptions i do not want. Any chance we could get a feature where if we get more than 1 email a minute, we get an alert and the option for all these emails to be automatically be sent to spam, unless its an email from an address we commonly get? Would be amazing, i know several influencers with the…

calendar notifications in proton mail app for iOS.
Currently the email reminder I get about a calendar event says,
Reminder: event starting at 12:
And then I need to open the email to see what event it is about. Would it be possible to just display the event title, possibly truncated to ~20 characters, so the time would show at the end. Something like:
Chili cookoff @ 12:30 PM
Thanks!

Sending large files like Apple Maildrop
In Apple Mail I regularly send large files using Maildrop. If an attached file is too large to send with an email, Maildrop automatically creates a downloadlink. So the receipient recieves an email with a downloadlink.
It would be great if Proton Mail / Proton Drive would have such a function.1 vote -
Trigger Email Expiration After Sent
I accidentally forgot to change the date for an expiration email, and now sensitive information is floating online for a longer duration than I wanted. I want to be able to trigger expiration manually. Another problem this solves could be sending it to the wrong person. Another problem this solves is if you only want the information up there until the person downloads it, and you don't want it just sitting there.
I tried deleting the Sent mail permanently, and that didn't do anything. The message link and password still worked. This is unexpected behavior, since now I personally don't…

Update "Automatically save contacts" with an option to confirm yes, no, and no: don't ask again for email address
I would like the ability to choose what contacts automatically save to my contacts. Please add this as a new feature or add it to the current "Automatically save contacts" feature.
Example: You have just sent or replied to an email with proton support and that email address gets saved to your contacts automatically because you have the feature turned on. I don't really need to save that specific support email in my contacts. Instead once I have sent the email give me a prompt like this. "Would you like to save this email to your contacts? Yes or No"…

Keep Hide My Email End-to-End Encrypted
Description:
Proton’s Hide My Email feature is great for protecting my real email address, but currently, it breaks end-to-end encryption (E2EE) because emails are decrypted at the forwarding stage before reaching my inbox. For a truly private experience, Hide My Email should maintain full E2EE, ensuring that messages remain encrypted from sender to recipient without being decrypted by Proton servers.
Proposed Solution:
Each Hide My Email alias could have its own public-private key pair, so messages sent to it are encrypted independently.
Proton could use Proxy Re-Encryption (PRE) or a similar method to re-encrypt messages without ever exposing plaintext before…

Add setting to reject all emails that fail SPF, DKIM or DMARC checks.
I don't ever want to receive messages from spoofed domains or shaky SMTP servers.
Any email that fails either SPF, DKIM, or DMARC should be auto rejected.1 vote -

Warn user that they are not sending from an alias
Similar to to the idea "Always use hide-my-email aliases" (https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail/suggestions/49195577-always-use-hide-my-email-aliases), but also that it warns you that you are not sending an email from an alias.
So you can still email from your base protonmail email, but a popup warns you that you are sending an email from it.

New Message Size
For a new message the size of the message window for a laptop (mac) is 4 lines. Responding to a received message the message window is 3 lines. The message window should be expandable to use the entire screen to improve functionality.

Toggle to place signature below reply, above original email
To me it seems logical that, when replying to an email, one would sign it again. In other words: That ones signature would again appear under one's reply.
However, currently, when replying to emails in a conversation, signatures are not added again and one is left to type it manually or copy-paste it. Or let go it altogether.
Maybe it's a cultural thing, but to me it seems unprofessional.
I do not enjoy this as this means that handy information in my signature has to be dug up from previous emails, which requires searching on the other party's behalf.
I…
