When changing e-mail selection, do not mark as read.
When I click a new e-mail, it always marks the previous selection as read. I prefer to mark it read manually

Reading pane on iPad
The ability to add a reading pane in the iPad app to see the email list and current email side by side, like on browser.
I use protonmail.com more then the protonmail app on my iPad because in the browser it allows to view the reading pane, where on the app you can only view either the email list or the current email

Increase width of scroll bar to 10px at least
I see in beta you have made the vertical scroll bar too thin that it takes effort to catch it, I hope the design aesthetics won't be disturbed if you make it at least 10px.

Protonmail / pm.me alias for multi-user
The Visionary plan offers multi-user support. However, for sub-users (not primary account user), any user alias is based on a custom domain only and not pm.me / protonmail is not available.
However, the primary account user can choose to create an alias for a custom domain, pm.me or protonmail.
That flexibility should be extended to the sub-users to provide the same anonymity options for sub-users, i.e., children or primary account owner.8 votes -

Sort by date of deletion
If you delete an older email from inbox accidently it's hard to find it in trash again. So it would really help to sort the trash by date of deletion.

How about encrypted DNS (DoH and or DoT) from Proton?
Wouldnt it be great if Proton would not only provide VPN but als the option to secure your DNS. OptIons could include malware blocking, adblocking and family filters via DNS over HTTPS or DNS over TLS.

Automatically label incoming emails
I now have my Gmail account linked to my Protonmail so I can view all my emails in one place. All incoming Gmail messages are automatically labelled as gmail, which is great. I like being able to see them all separately from my Protonmail messages. However we cannot see our Protonmail messages separately. It stands to reason we should have the option to have all incoming protonmail messages labelled so we can view them apart from other accounts linked to our protonmail. Add "Sender & Recipient" to filter creation
When I create filters for incoming and outgoing email, I have to select sender, then, using "Or", add another test for the recipient. You might consider adding "Sender & Recipient to the list of options for the filter so users can create the filter in one step.

Allow special characters in local-part for custom domain email addresses
when trying to set the local-part for my custom domain email address to "~"
I get this error message:"Only alphanumerics, periods, hyphens, and underscores are allowed in the local part of the email address, and it must begin and end with alphanumerics." all I can say is why?

Allow unicode in e-mail addresses.
E-mail addresses can contain Unicode characters according to RFC 6530 and other RFCs. Please, allow such addresses in ProtonMail.

Sort messages FROM
Something really simple that is missing and that is essential to organize the inbox, is to be able to sort messages by user/email. In addition, if we could sort ascending/descending dates, that would make much easier to select, archive and clean messages.

Remote sieve management; ManageSieve (RFC 5804)
Currently the only way to manage sieve filters is through the web interface. This means you are limited by how responsive the web app is, and using raw text-based sieve filters are extra clicks away.
There are many tools for managing sieve filters on remote servers using RFC 5804, in email clients such as Thunderbird to plain old Emacs to any other tool built on this common protocol.
