Notification Support for Googless Android Operating Systems (e.g. Lineage, /e/)
Earnestly, just some basal notification support needs to be appended that isn't reliant on Google. If it's just notifications that's the concern, then let me explain.
There are some alternative operating systems, such as Lineage and the one made by the /e/ foundation, that don't utilize Google services. These operating systems have notification functions, and work with all of my other apps regularly for notifications. I've noticed the app can already be acquired via APKPure, and F-Droid would be another viable alternative storefront away from Google Play. I was able to access the app readily, I just need to know…

Ability to delete disabled addresses
Creating a new address under the Protonmail Account should not be permanent. Needs change over time. Higher subscription levels appear to have the capability to delete disabled addresses provided there are no emails for it. As a Plus user, it appears that any address I create is permanent and can only be disabled but not deleted. If I created an email address for a temporary purpose, but now would like the slot back for a new address (only 5 for base Plus subscription), it is not possible. That address forever takes one of my 5 address slots whether I enable…

Proton.me Dark mode home-/login page
After the overhaul of the webpage design for proton.me, the home and login page is very bright without the option to set it to dark mode.
So for users who use dark mode everywhere else, every time we log in, we have to do it through a very blinding screen.6 votes -
Mail merge
I am a paid subscriber of Protonmail. I think a mail merge feature would be nice, where I can upload a CSV file containing the dynamic features like Name, email, customs links etc., and the separate customised emails would be sent to the recipients. This would avoid showing all emails to the recipients.

Public web form (unique for every pm user) to let non-protonmail-users send us encrypted mails
Let non-protonmail-users send an encrypted email to a pm user using a unique public web form which uses that pm user private key to encrypt the data.
This way we can give people unfamiliar with PGP an easy way to communicate with us securely.
This is an idea borrowed from a very usefull feature of flowcrypt. Every flowcrypt user has a public form: https://flowcrypt.com/me/<USERNAME>. From there anybody can sendme an encrypted mail using my own public key with no need to share it and to instruct them how to use it.

Add sub-folders to the archive folder.
I would like the ability to archive the sub-folders with all the emails saved in them. For faster retrieval when researching among 1000's archived emails.

Dark Mode for Emails (not just the UI)
When setting dark mode in Protonmail, White email backgrounds look weird. The dark themes can be more consistent with dark email backgrounds.

Email forwarding alias for custom domains
Since Protonmail needs to have the MX record for the domain set I need to be able to set forward aliases for some mails I do not want to see in my inbox and forward to other provider. Like brother@customomain.com as a forward alias to brother@other-domain.com (Which even is supported by most DNS providers). I understand that this communication cannot be encrypted by Protonmail, but this is a necessity for me and I am forced to cancel my professional subscription and move back to my old provider until that is available (since this is a feature to be expected).

Archive shortcut in mobile mail
On the mobile (iOS) client, I rarely use the trash icon in the reading mail few, but I frequently use the archive command. Unfortunately, this command is hidden behind a dropdown menu. Ideally, I can configure the list of shortcut icons to make the "archive" icon faster to reach while moving the trash icon into the dropdown menu.

Video Conference Platform branded Proton
Is the development team already creating a video conferencing platform directly linked to your ProtonMail account? What do you think about this? It could be useful to give a good signal to other big names like Google or Microsoft.

Collapse the folders "by default" (or let the user choose)
Folder structure is fantastic - But the users should be able to select if they want the structure collapsed or expanded when they start email
A standard folders setting "Default to Collapsed View" or "Default to Expanded View".

'Delete Permanently' button in the taskbar
Until the recent upgrade, one could delete emails permanently from the All Mail view. Since the upgrade, it appears you can only delete permanently from the Trash. I would like to have this feature back so I don't have to first move emails from the inbox to the trash before I delete them.
Thank you,
Loren White

Self destruct via default for specific addresses
I would like to see the option to have self destruct emails for specific email addresses. For example, if I wish to send an email to myself, to review or print the contents, I would like it to disappear to reduce filling my email inbox.
I sometimes email my work account and forward the email from there, or so I can print an attachment. (It’s just easier to print from within my workplace if I use their email client and their provided email address). So that I don’t have a bunch of emails in my account, it would be useful…6 votes -
Label for outgoing mail
Just like I have access to an icon in the toolbar to label incoming mails, I would like to label e-mails that I am about to send out.
Currently, I can do it only after the fact by finding the mail in the sent folder, but this is inconvenient.

Add Internationalized Domain Support
Add Support for Internationalized Domain Names in the sending fields [to,cc,bcc] of an email (https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/idn-2012-02-25-en). When attempting to send to an IDN email the web client will currently not accept the IDN in the address bar. It can accept the Punycode equivalent however this gets reject by a lot of the email providers as it has an Incorrect address in the to field. This is a feature already support by Gmail (https://domainnamewire.com/2014/08/05/gmail-adds-idn-support/). I personally wish ProtonMail supported this feature so I could email friends, who use IDN as their email domain, without problem.

Alphabetically sort subfolders too
I love being able to alphabetically sort folders ...but the omission of the same for sub-folders is seriously annoying. - Please extend folder sorting so it applies to ALL folders, including sub-folders, and not simply the parent!

Ability to Archive Labels
Now that I have fully migrated away from G Suite to ProtonMail, there is one feature that I would really love to see (that Gmail doesn't even have, to my knowledge).
I would love the ability to archive labels in ProtonMail (e.g. - start a new 3-month project, assign it a label, project is completed, all emails are archived, then archive the label as it isn't needed anymore except for historical reference when searching/viewing archived emails). For example "Q1 2022 Project".
In practice, this would mean "hiding" archived labels from the UI when viewing and interacting with new (unarchived) emails,…
