Especially now that Profiles are back, and have more options such as setting a server location or a even a specific server, this is essential. I just ran into it a couple hours ago.
To address concerns about syncing causing problems in some situations, Sync should be Off by default and can be turned on (or off) via an option in Settings.

I was going to vote for this but then realized that if one user in my household wanted to turn off the vpn (due to streaming not working when it's on) but I wanted to keep the vpn on, if it were sync'd that would cause an issue.

ProtonVPN already has a sync config/profile function. At least on Windows and Android app.

Same with browser extensions. Its very inconvenient to add excluded domains on each device/browser
