Kill Switch fixes this.

I subscribe to Proton Family, and family members refuse to use the VPN anymore. The internet connection would stall, and they would not know what happened. They would call me, and I would recommend turning the VPN off and on. The connection would then work again. The users then leave the VPN off to avoid further nuisance. Autofailover after a short period of a stalled connection would help solve this. Perhaps, a generic profile option that would autoreconnect to servers in a given country or state.

EDIT: Hilariously, the connection stalled after I typed this comment and clicked "post comment." (I noticed this because the Proton Bridge menu bar icon showed no connection.) I turned the VPN off, and this comment posted.

It seems that if I leave my VPN running for a long period of time (longer than a day), my connection stops working. A disconnect and reconnect fixes the issue. It would be nice if there was an option to automatically disconnect and reconnect the VPN on a daily basis.

I have an issue with our ISP where we get frequent packet loss and occasional disconnects. While I understand this is not Proton's fault, I would notice it a lot less if it automatically reconnected me after a few seconds of not detecting a connection. After all, the issue temporarily resolves when I manually reconnect to Proton VPN.

+1 its very annoying as you just dont know if you have internet connection or not and need manual to check the VPN status each time. Goes potentially together with profiles where to select profile when moving from wifi to mobile data.

Could we also choose, in the app, to have it disconnect for a specific amount of time and then reconnect automatically.

Happen every day when I walk outside and the internet shifts from WiFi to T-mobile. I understand the reconnect issue partly depends on iOs, but a heartbeat timer that detects the internet is unreachable and restarts the connection would be VERY helpful! Sometimes if have to restart Proton to force the reconnect.
