  1. Block malware & trackers (not ads)

To support websites that’s dependent on advertising, I’d like to block trackers whilst refusing tracking.

Writing this I realize it might be the case that it’s not possible to separate ads and tracking since they’re delivered by the same domains. In that case please close this suggestion.

  2. Circumventing Censorship and Connection Issues

In regions with strict censorship, NAT mode, campus networks, and other specific environments, a proxy is often required to log in and connect; moreover, success largely depends on luck, and speeds are quite unstable.
I have reviewed the latest proxy protocols—such as hy2, xhttp, and anytls—which have strong anti-censorship capabilities. Why not combine the features of these protocols to develop a new protocol that is compatible, stable, and fast? Based on these protocols, a new configuration file and protocol could be developed, allowing users to choose whether to route traffic through this protocol when logging in, sending the traffic to…

  3. Please allow Split Tunneling setting for each profile separately

I am a total noobie in Proton VPN but after experimenting awhile, I was not able to set Split Tunneling settings for each profile separately but only universally for the whole application. If this not only my inability to use th app correctly but a existing limitation, please make it possible.

  5. iOS, pin my custom profiles and show the name

Create a profile, be able to pin it, and see the name that you named it. Right now the name is useless.

  6. Maintain 'Open' or 'Moderate' NAT Type While Port Forwarding for Enhanced Multiplayer Gaming Experience"

Why does enabling port forwarding change the NAT type from "Moderate" to "Strict"? It should either be "Open" or remain "Moderate." This distinction is crucial for many online P2P multiplayer games, such as GTA Online & many more, where a "Strict" NAT type severely hampers multiplayer functionality.

I hope that in the future, Proton VPN can address this issue, allowing users to achieve an "Open" or "Moderate" NAT type while port forwarding is enabled.

I hope this concern is taken seriously. Thank you.

  7. MacOS app domain split tunneling

Please add domains to split tunneling. I can do it on the browser versions but not desktop (MacOS in my case)

  8. One-Click App Selection for VPN Split Tunneling

I am requesting an enhancement to the current split tunneling feature by introducing the ability to select applications from a dynamic list of currently running processes. The existing method requires users to manually locate and select executable files from the system directory, which can be inefficient and cumbersome. Incorporating a user-friendly interface that displays running applications—similar to NordVPN’s approach—would streamline the process and significantly improve usability, particularly for less technically inclined users.

  9. make it possible to use on a Macbook Pro with a Brave and/or Safari browser

I have been having increasing difficulties accessing websites with my Proton VPN turned on -- I updated the Brave browser this morning and suddenly I am denied access to nearly every website unless I turn off Proton VPN, which pretty much makes it useless.

  11. Subject: False positive blocking ConvertKit

    Hi Proton Team,

I’ve noticed that ConvertKit email links are being blocked by NetShield even when set to “Malware only.” Specifically, these domains fail to resolve while NetShield is active:
    ck.page

    convertkit-mail.com

    convertkit.com

These are legitimate marketing/redirect domains used by ConvertKit, a major email service provider. With NetShield disabled, the links work fine.

Could you please review and remove these domains from the blocklist so they are not blocked in Malware-only mode?

  12. Reconnect option for active profile.

Please add an option to reconnect the active profile. Right now, if I'm using the Fastest Country profile, and I see that my server load is high, I have to disconnect and then connect again, leaving my network open for a second.

I assume that a proper reconnect button would avoid any lapse in VPN coverage.

  13. iOS widget background: remove gradient

I’m grateful for the iOS vpn widget, but the gradient background is an eyesore.

Other apps use a consistent, flat background in their widgets, dark gray in dark mode, and white in light mode. This means widgets from different apps still look nice when arranged into a “dashboard” next to each other — until I add the Proton widget, with its gradient-fade background.

I suppose the gradient is part of the Proton branding but it gets in the way here and should be skipped.

  15. Inverse Split Tunneling for Firefox extension

Currently, Split Tunneling in the ProtonVPN extension for Firefox allows excluding certain sites from using the VPN. It's ok. However, in certain circumstances, the opposite may be preferable: enabling ProtonVPN only for certain critical sites and leaving all other sites to browse without it.

  16. Update extension UI

The extension UI seems to be working with the OG UI, it would be nice to have it updated to a more recent version with new features such as split tunneling being an inclusion list rather than exclusion so I have specific websites (like social media) where I want my vpn on and others I want it off.

  17. The Proton VPN app should keep statistics of successful connections

… and when choosing a random server to connect to, it should first try to connect to those servers that are most likely to connect based on the statistics of previous connections. In the conditions of total Internet censorship, I feel sorry for the time that the app spends over and over again checking the availability of those servers that are guaranteed to be blocked by the Internet provider using DPI equipment, which Proton's "smart" traffic masking mechanism cannot handle.

  18. Support Usage across multiple local users on Mac

Currently some Proton apps are unusable on a Mac with multiple local users. For instance if you have Mac User A and Mac User B both with Proton accounts (PA and PB)

Mac User A installs Proton VPN and Proton Drive and logs into each with PA

Mac User B uses "Switch Users" to log into their local Mac account and tries to use Proton Apps

*Proton VPN: The app will open and Mac User B logs in with their Proton B account but the VPN will never establish a connection. It will say "connecting" but eventually time out with

  20. The ProtonVPN client works great; I wish I could get PVPN and pfSense working that well.

The PVPN client performance is stellar, but I seek similar performance for whole home protection by setting up PVPN in a pfSense VirtualBox VM on a separate laptop which doesn't do much else. I've used PVPN via that setup for years. Running speed tests on the same machine as where the pfSense/PVPN VM is running, I have found to be disastrous: incredibly low throughput, no matter what PC it's running on.

No VPN: 95Mbps. PVPN client: 85Mbps. PVPN+pfSense: 50Mbps (worst case). Those are download speeds given by OpenSpeedTest run from a different PC on the LAN than where the pfSense…
