Hello
the suggestion is just 1, the one in the title.
i keep finding out that i go to random website, and no, i am not talking about pron or dark web or whatever else exist, but simple random websites, shopping, pc stuff, ai stuff, so on, and everywhere the IP is blocked???
Mind you, i say ip because when i connect to another one then it works. And in all of them it's the same message: due to abuse
Now before i continu i want to make one thing absolutly clear: the limits for privacy by proton. Sorry but…

Domain Split tunnelling in Desktop app
In the Windows app, there should be an option to split tunnel domains as well as IPs, sometimes specific apps block VPNs and it would be nice to split tunnel a specific domain device wide rather than having to choose an IP because IPs don't always work, especially in some games that block VPNs

Perpetual NetShield Statistics
I think being able to see the total amount of ads blocked and data saved perpetually would be pretty cool. I'm especially referring to the android VPN app as the statistics reset every time the VPN is turned off or changed.

Feature for Proton VPN (gtk) App
Proton VPN App creates an icon in the toolbar / app-bar, where hovering mouse over it tells "Proton VPN". That is good for the beginner, but the thing I usually want to know is 1) Where am I connected [CH-#123] or if I am not connected, 2) to tell [Proton VPN not connected]. At the present I have to open the "Show" to see the connection. Even more information could be useful, but I have no ideas for that.
Secondly I want the "Show" appear just below the "Disconnect" option. "Quit" can well be the last one.

Linux - Include client options to GUI
Currently the linux client have several interested features that could be great to have in the GUI.
For example be able to connect to fastest secure core server, or random secure core (--random -sc), random p2p, etc.
It could be an option to click connect, like the other ones, or a param that could be added in the Autoconnect or Pinned tray icons, like the already existing "Fastest" option.For example:
1. SecureCore -> --securecore
2. Random -> --random
3. RandomSecureCore -> --random --securecore
4. P2P -> --p2p
5. RandomP2P -> --random --p2pOnly the GUI because it has support…

More Netshield statistics
At the moment, you can see in Netshield how many adverts have been blocked and how many trackers have been stopped.
It would also be great if you could see exactly which ones and on which page or in which app they were.
The display keeps resetting. I’m fine with that in principle, but an overview of these statistics would be very interesting for tech enthusiasts. ;-)

Mock gps
A vpn feature known usually as mock GPS.
It would have different options such as masking your GPS location to match your vpn ip address or to a specific location.Such as the browser extension cloaq on desktop or the Mock GPS Location app on the Play Store.
There is also a simple version included in Surfshark that only uses the matching option.19 votes -
Split
Split tunneling is extremely useful but could benefit greatly from another level of splitting so that apps could be put into a home country only vpn tunnel, switched to when opening. This would allow some apps that don't work under a vpn to work since geography often seems to be the issue. I realize this could mean a reconnect, but this ensures staying on vpn and not forgetting to re-enable it to the preferred default other country. When it switches, a second notification could effectively remind that a switch occurred (since the standard notification is there forever and so becomes…

Allow connecting via CLI as non-root
Previously, I could run the CLI as my standard user on Arch without issue, so I added it to my
~/.zprofile, ensuring that I would always be connected to a VPN server. My login flow is to login to the TTY and then start a GUI from there.I updated my system on 2026-05-23, and since then, protonvpn fails with "unexpected error." If I open a terminal emulator after I start a GUI session and use the CLI from there, it prompts me for root privileges. I am the sole user of the laptop, but I do have a…

Advanced Kill Switch breaks NetworkManager after reboot on Linux (Fedora 44 + other distros)
The Advanced Kill Switch on Linux has a persistent bug that breaks networking after a system restart. I experienced this multiple times in the past on Fedora 44 (currently using Standard Kill Switch).

ProtonVPN + Tailscale compatability
Hi Proton team,
I really appreciate how fast Proton iterates. One recurring pain point for privacy-conscious self-hosters is VPN + Tailscale coexistence.
When Proton VPN is active (especially with kill switch), Tailscale stops working properly. This forces users to constantly disable one or the other, which defeats part of the purpose of running self-hosted services privately.
Would it be possible to improve split tunneling / "Allow LAN access" so that it reliably works with Tailscale (and similar tools like Netbird or Headscale)? Even a dedicated "Overlay network mode" or better documentation would help a lot of power users.

ProtonVPN WireGuard config renaming
I need to use ProtonVPN configs on multiple devices and multiple servers (because they get blocked very often) and it would be more comfortable if I could rename the configs already made so i could later change the names from jumbled mess to an actual normal name

Selection of countries in connection preferences
Instead selection of all countries you want to exclude,
have a modus toggle include/exclude so that you only have to select the few countries you actually need.4 votes -
Missing data transfer notification option
In the notification area, only the country and total upload/download and speed since the start of using the application are displayed. It would be great if there was an option in the settings to specify, for example, daily download/upload or weekly or monthly or select a date from when to when. This option would be great for tracking a monthly data plan

Browse for additional applications in Split Tunneling on Proton VPN Linux
Much like in the Proton VPN application for Windows - where you can browse for a specific .exe - it would be great to be able to browse for additional applications in the Split Tunneling menu on Proton VPN for Linux as well, since not all installed applications - e.g. all applications without GUI - are listed and cannot at the moment be included/excluded in the list of apps for Split Tunneling.
This small change would make this feature so much more flexible!4 votes -
PC Performance
I would appreciate if the Windows VPN Client could get a "minimalist" or "performance" mode with reduced footprint on system resources. Even on a modern high end PC and especially when using other Proton apps at the same time, multitasking and working, it adds up.
Maybe we could get a setting for a minimal UI without all the fancy elements and animations? Even closed to the sys tray and being in the background, the VPN uses over 400MB RAM + dedicated GPU VRAM while constantly drawing GPU utilization causing unnecessary interrupts. It's undesireable when using the VPN while doing other…5 votes -
Domain-based (FQDN) Split Tunneling for Desktop and Mobile
Please add domain-based split tunneling (e.g., *.company.intern) to the Windows/macOS desktop clients, similar to how the browser extension already handles it.
The current IP- and App-based split tunneling is unreliable for modern web services with dynamic IPs/CDNs and internal corporate networks.
Solution: The client should monitor DNS queries for specified domains and dynamically route the resolved IPs. This would massively improve reliability and close a major feature gap compared to enterprise VPN clients.
Please add this feature for Desktop and Mobile App
