Inverse Split Tunneling for Firefox extension
Currently, Split Tunneling in the ProtonVPN extension for Firefox allows excluding certain sites from using the VPN. It's ok. However, in certain circumstances, the opposite may be preferable: enabling ProtonVPN only for certain critical sites and leaving all other sites to browse without it.

Block malware & trackers (not ads)
To support websites that’s dependent on advertising, I’d like to block trackers whilst refusing tracking.
Writing this I realize it might be the case that it’s not possible to separate ads and tracking since they’re delivered by the same domains. In that case please close this suggestion.

Feature parity between Windows/Mac and Linux
I've started using Proton VPN in Windows, and it's a great app, full of resources, with great graphics, many resources, ability to auto-start, start minimized, auto-connect to a profile... The Mac version also looks very similar to Windows'.
However, recently I changed to Linux (Pop OS, Ubuntu based), and although I had no problems installing the GUI version of the app, it does not even remotely resemble the Windows/Mac version. It's a very, veeeeeeeeery simple app, without the majority of configuration options present in their other OS's counterparts.
Proton VPN team should dedicate more time to make the Linux version…

Better support for GNOME's "Background Apps" feature
Not every Linux desktop environment comes out with support for tray icons, the most infamous one for that being GNOME, one of the most popular desktop environments. Since GNOME 44, it focuses on a "Background apps" feature, which uses xdg-desktop-portal to find apps running in the background, with the ability to show them.
Personally, I must say I like that feature, and would like to avoid installing extensions adding back the tray. At the same time, I'd love it if the Proton VPN was able to start minimized on login in my prefered DE, especially since it's possible for other…

Fix Free Tier Country List: Linux/Config file Shows 10, GUI Apps Display Only 5
This request addresses an inconsistency across ProtonVPN platforms regarding the number of countries available on the Free plan.
Currently:
Linux GUI, CLI, and manual configuration files (OpenVPN/WireGuard) correctly expose 10 free countries, matching what the backend actually provides.
Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and tvOS apps display only 5 countries in their GUI, even though random connecting to all 10 is possible via backend/API.
This creates a confusing discrepancy for users and contradicts the behavior of Linux clients and manual configs.
Proton and web pages also show mixed information (some mention 5, others implicitly reflect 10), further adding to user confusion.

"Random" option when creating a profile
When creating or editing a Standard VPN Profile, you select the country and then are given the option of "Fastest" or a given city/server. ProtonVPN used to have the option of to select "Random" here as well, ie a random server from within a specific country, but that seems to have been removed. Please add that option back.

Set a Favorite Server as Default
In the next Proton VPN update, I suggest that the user have the option to set a favorite server as default. That way, whenever someone turns on their computer or phone, they are logged in directly to it. For example, I really like the performance and speed of server 101 (Brazil). But having to select it every time is quite inconvenient.

Replace location switch timers with advertisements
The way that the free version of Proton VPN currently works (on mobile, at least) is that the locations users can switch to are randomised, and there are timers that force you to wait between switches. Not only is this annoying for users, but from a business perspective, it doesn't seem very profitable. I understand that these features are here to encourage people to buy the premium version, but that leaves the people who don't want a subscription not being profitable at all. My proposal is to replace the timers and randomisation with needing to watch an ad to switch…

Physically Located VPN Server on the Philippines
Hello,
Could you please consider adding or switching to a server provider that is physically located in the Philippines?
I’ve noticed that other VPN providers like Mullvad and Windscribe use Zenlayer for their Philippine servers. Perhaps Proton could explore incorporating Zenlayer as well to enhance local connectivity and performance.
Thank you for your consideration.

Please allow Split Tunneling setting for each profile separately
I am a total noobie in Proton VPN but after experimenting awhile, I was not able to set Split Tunneling settings for each profile separately but only universally for the whole application. If this not only my inability to use th app correctly but a existing limitation, please make it possible.

Adding an application name instead of the app's location for split tunneling
give us the option to add the executable name instead adding the file location, some applications after they recieve an update the change the path to the exe file and with the current method i have to go back to protonvpn and add the application back to the list every time, if there was a way to for example tell proton to tunnel the app named "discord.exe" through vpn then after the app receives an update and changes the path i still can use the app with vpn without going through the process of adding it again

Maintain 'Open' or 'Moderate' NAT Type While Port Forwarding for Enhanced Multiplayer Gaming Experience"
Why does enabling port forwarding change the NAT type from "Moderate" to "Strict"? It should either be "Open" or remain "Moderate." This distinction is crucial for many online P2P multiplayer games, such as GTA Online & many more, where a "Strict" NAT type severely hampers multiplayer functionality.
I hope that in the future, Proton VPN can address this issue, allowing users to achieve an "Open" or "Moderate" NAT type while port forwarding is enabled.
I hope this concern is taken seriously. Thank you.

The Proton VPN app should keep statistics of successful connections
… and when choosing a random server to connect to, it should first try to connect to those servers that are most likely to connect based on the statistics of previous connections. In the conditions of total Internet censorship, I feel sorry for the time that the app spends over and over again checking the availability of those servers that are guaranteed to be blocked by the Internet provider using DPI equipment, which Proton's "smart" traffic masking mechanism cannot handle.

Fix the icon on the Windows VPN App
The system try icon displays as "connected" even when it is not. This is problematic for obvious reasons.

mac app
i expect it will happen eventually, but any plans to update the Mac VPN app to be on par with the excellently recently redesigned windows and iOS apps? It greatly enhances useage and would be nice on mac. I understand if it isn't a priority , though

Add Proxy capabilities to VPN servers
Proton, could you add proxy servers or modify/add your current servers to expose a proxy feature?
I will try to explain what i am trying to do:
I want to have my OpenWRT router connected to one of your secure core servers. After that i would like to be able on my laptop:- See US content: okay, exit to a US proxy
- See japanese content: okay, exit to a JP proxy Etc...
This is very flexible and i just need to encrypt the traffic 1x time (to your secure core server) because afaik proxy traffic is mirrored, isn it?
I…

browser extension
The browser extension needs a bit of rework because it severs the connection a lot of times when it's on, regardless of whether it's a secure core or normal connection. It could also include CleanWeb, so it's not just in the desktop app, and also it could be more specific, ic uBlock Origin, so it could block scripts and have special filters. And the ui could do a bit of rework too.

Ability to set default secure core on windows
It would be great to be able to set the default connection to be random country (via secure core) or fastest country (via secure core), just like IOS when you toggle secure core on.
