Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Introducing Docs in Proton Drive – collaborative document editing that’s actually private: https://proton.me/blog/docs-proton-drive
With Docs you can:
- Write with privacy — Create and edit documents within Proton Drive, knowing your contents are only accessible to you and those you choose to share with.
- Share and invite anyone — Invite other users to view or edit your documents with a single click.
- Collaborate in real-time — Changes are reflected immediately, ensuring every contributor always sees the most up-to-date version.
- View cursors and presence indicators — See who else is viewing or editing the document, enhancing teamwork and communication.
- Leave comments and replies — Add comments to share feedback without editing the document. Comments are visible to all collaborators, keeping everyone in the loop.
- Import and export with ease — You can upload .docx documents, edit them, and download in various formats like .docx, .txt, .md, and HTML.

Considering a collaboration suite, as the economic trend towards online applications rather than software or brick and mortar applications, Protonmail would be wise to prioritize a collaboration suite before other email providers corner the market by providing such niche features, which will in turn, make the email provider, who does provide those features, to be the most popular. Protonmail, or the email provider who provides these features, would be sure to learn from google's mistakes in assuming that all user's have the same electronic devices to access the web and thus, security measures to be implemented around the assumed electronic devices that all users have, which is not the case. It would be quite disappointment if Protonmail does not prioritize this thread, and other email providers see this opportunity to be successful in the new market that we currently see with the economic trend that we are heading towards to.

Graphic file names: They are apparently converted from the actual file name to a hexadecimal string. All other files I have tried appear to retain their original file name.

5gb OF SPACE is really small with USB sizes being 32,64, 126, 254 etc. I know your not Google size but they offer 100GB for 9.99 a year. Syncs with all my devices. I use Boxcryptor which encrypts all those files. When do you expect to increase the size of storage?

The native text editor can also be used to create texf files to include in directories. These would include special notes, instructions, code, meta-data, and other material.

It will cost much work. Proton should better focus on its own core business.

Add the option to integrate with shared Word/Excel/PowerPoint - type platforms, securely. As an added feature of the ProtonMail suite, this would help current Google Suite and Microsoft 365 customers make the switch to ProtonMail.

It would be extremely useful to have an extremely bare-bones native text editor built into proton drive for updating the contents of .txt files.
This would help avoid the following scenario:
downloading the secure file, editing and saving the file, uploading the file, then having to clean up any local data cached during that process.Thank you!

IOS: Make it possible to export files to protondrive from the "Share" button, like we can do with ProtonMail.

Can we use existing tools like Unison or Rsync with ProtonDrive?

1. I would like to upload folders or group of folders, and not only files or group of files
2. Storage space should be 1-3 Tb and not just 5 Gb
3. I concur with the laptop synching and iOS support requests -

Automatic or scheduled uploads of selected laptop/desktop files is essential. I'd be satisfied even if I had to click a button to sync designated folders whenever I logged in.

Have the option to purchase significantly more storage.

Yes the ability to have a basic cloud based document editor that is private and end to end encrypted would be amazing. To start with it could be very basic and only allow the creator of the document to edit it. The key feature for me is the ability to view and edit on any device. I might start on my laptop, made additional edits on my Android phone, then reference it on my iPad.

I'd refine the idea to add a ProtonDrive workspace on computer that leaves "no trace" of work done on files that reside in that workspace. Anything in the workspace will NOT be backed up to DropBox, iCloud, or anything else, and anything deleted from the workspace will be "bleached" out by the app. The only remaining copy of the work product will be on the ProtonDrive.

+1.
This functionnality is quite important. We most of us are using calendar on different devices and I prefer to be really sure that the info I read or write is accurate on all devices.
Another reason is that I integrate calendars from organisation/association I work with, which avoid to write things twice and to have the latest info if an appointment, a session date is modified.
Thanks -
