Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Introducing Docs in Proton Drive – collaborative document editing that’s actually private: https://proton.me/blog/docs-proton-drive
With Docs you can:
- Write with privacy — Create and edit documents within Proton Drive, knowing your contents are only accessible to you and those you choose to share with.
- Share and invite anyone — Invite other users to view or edit your documents with a single click.
- Collaborate in real-time — Changes are reflected immediately, ensuring every contributor always sees the most up-to-date version.
- View cursors and presence indicators — See who else is viewing or editing the document, enhancing teamwork and communication.
- Leave comments and replies — Add comments to share feedback without editing the document. Comments are visible to all collaborators, keeping everyone in the loop.
- Import and export with ease — You can upload .docx documents, edit them, and download in various formats like .docx, .txt, .md, and HTML.

The cloud exists for one reason only. To give someone else access to your data. DON'T create a cloud. Instead, create a heavily encrypted sync service. This will be much cheaper to host. In fact it might not even require hosting. It could all be peer to peer. It would also be easy to develop as open source variants of current such ideas already exist.

Can any type/brand of computer tell if a person who is using that particular type of computer
has some form of nano-optical electronics, a sort of nanoscale video recorder in their eyes, for
financial control purposes, etc.?
Are there any international privacy rights laws, for people not to have hidden cameras
in the eyes, and wireless digital tape recorders/transmitter in their ear/s &/or brain, or both?Does protonmail recommend any other secure email for the public that might have
free..... storage space? -

to keep protonmail accesible freely for many users and prevent cost from rising, a feature like this should start from like one dollar for little storage (500 or 1000mb maybe), with additional plans with higher cost

Please take some time to picture it.
ProtonCloud = ProtonMail + ProtonChat (Text, Audio and Video with Conferencing and Groups) + ProtonCalendar + ProtonContacts + ProtonDrive + ProtonVault (Includes passwords, notes, credntials and identities) + ProtonTasks/ProtonToDo. Well, ProtonVPN cannot technically come under this cloud concept.
So there are 4 ways of going about this:
1) Free, OpenSource, FullEncryption and Centralised.
So here, as usual free and paid users. You will earn from paid users, funding and donations. Users are connected directly to ProtonTechnolgies (centralised).2)Free, OpenSource, FullEncryption and Federated.
Anybody can host and provide the services. Users are federated with their hosts. You will have to use funding and donations for development of Proton company.3) Commercial, OpenSource, FullEncryption and Federated.
Your open source system/architecture is only for commercial sale. Hosters can buy from you and provide their own service (Free or Paid, hoster's choice. You'll earn from hosters, funding and donation. Users are fedarated with their hosts.4) Free+Commercial, OpenSource, FullEncryption and *********.
As from before, you will commercially sell the system to hosters and also providing services (free+paid) by being a host yourself. You earn from hosters, paid users, funding and donations. Users are fedarated with their hosts including you. -

requesting the people at proton to create a file hosting service would be too costly and useless.
anyone can keep their privacy while using the same nsa services that are provided for free like goggles and similar shit, by uploading all their sensitive data in veracrypt files exclusively. problem solved.

Dear Protonmail Team, would this be a feature we can expect in near future? I fully agree to the other posters here and would really like to see a "ProtonDrive" (similar to what GoogleDrive is) storage space in the cloud. Ideally with a method to be mounted as a file system into a Linux instance, for more comfort in access.
The functionality GoogleDrive offers is quite handy and very convenient, but it is - uhm - Google behind, ya know... the Data Kraken... -

Please don't do a cloud storage option because there are good options out there like mega pcloud and trezorit so protonmail doing another cloud storage option is pointless

This is a pretty good idea for activists.
We, activists, make good use of protonmail already.
The next step is to substitute google docs and sheets with a zero knowledge online version of LibreOffice, to collaborate easily and securely with remote partners.
Here is the state of development: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/LibreOffice_Online

Firstly well done Proton thanks for acknowledging our feedbacks and taken on board all our comments feels like we are talking to other humans unlike some of the other providers.
1) ProtonDrive/Vault - Purpose to store data of all types and file extensions.
2) Benefits - Would allow customers to save documents/ data to our existing email boxes utilising unused storage data space in our existing packages.
3) Location of service- Ideally button located on side bar next to our email access for easy use of attachments etc. Possibility of drag and drop function that would upload to our drive.
4) Additional benefits -Nice to haves - encrypted data storage box that can be for sharing access to a more then one file accessed file portal link anywhere in world. Rather then having to attach files and hitting attachment quota limit on existing email. This would allow customers to send confidential data on a temporary link accessible by pwd much like how customers read email outside of protonmail currently, although this would be for the sharing element.
- Backup methods / to easily update and sync data /transfer locally with encryption rings attached.
5) Security methods - highest forms of encryption possible to ensure confidence with customer data. / Possibly even a service built in within the service such as stegnography(this would be truly a unique service and properly crush your competitors)
My Ideas input for names for this service would be as followsProtonVault
ProtonDrive
ProtonCrypt
ProtonKnox
ProtonLockerMany Thanks peace to all and God bless may everybody be happy in this life.
Kindest regards

My personal opinion is keep all your private information off any cloud service because its yours and should not be given to anyone else.

Proton-DESK is what we need to have as next priority: all our critical information, searchable, editable and organized. Having a secure drive is nice but what is more important is to have it all integrated. I think a Proton DESK is a better methaphor.
This would encompass all our critical information, files (Word/ Excel/ other) editable and searchable. In "Other" would be passwords, like Lastpass - it would NOT be necessary to incorporate automatic logons if that entails security risks - good old copy and paste would be fine.
Think about it, right now I have to keep ProtonMail login info on an encrypted file (and paper note) - keeping it with Lastpass would be self defeating. Similarly to Lastpass notes, credit card info, banking routing info etc.
A crude current workaround would be to keep these information in DRAFTS (with a proper indexing) in ProtonMail, but we ought to have a better way. -

I would love to migrate my cloud storage to a company I trust with data residing in a country such as Switzerland or Iceland. I already pay Apple for storage and would even pay more to switch to such a service

Adding a viable (!) cloud storage option is the next step for ProtonMail! It should:
1. be priced similarly to Google / Dropbox (otherwise people won't pay)
2. more pricing / storage options than the competition (granular storage space selection)
3. APIs - at least REST (also provide attributes like sha-md5 hashes)
4. A fast & secure web version of it; one can add Android, iOS, Windows & Linux apps later.
5. Similar encryption structure to how ProtonMail already works.
6. Limit sharing (only in combination with a file/folder specific symmetric password.), otherwise DMCA will subvert security/anonymity of users and subvert ProtonMail mission.
7.
