Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Introducing Docs in Proton Drive – collaborative document editing that’s actually private: https://proton.me/blog/docs-proton-drive
With Docs you can:
- Write with privacy — Create and edit documents within Proton Drive, knowing your contents are only accessible to you and those you choose to share with.
- Share and invite anyone — Invite other users to view or edit your documents with a single click.
- Collaborate in real-time — Changes are reflected immediately, ensuring every contributor always sees the most up-to-date version.
- View cursors and presence indicators — See who else is viewing or editing the document, enhancing teamwork and communication.
- Leave comments and replies — Add comments to share feedback without editing the document. Comments are visible to all collaborators, keeping everyone in the loop.
- Import and export with ease — You can upload .docx documents, edit them, and download in various formats like .docx, .txt, .md, and HTML.

This post is nearly two years old - what is the status of getting a desktop sync app for Mac OS?

+1 !!
I know that many people would love to see some kind of Google Docs solution. Having Proton create its own suite might be too much to ask for now, but I think it wouldn't be hard for now to just integrate Proton Drive to the options already given by ONLYOFFICE cloud.
Many of us are just trying to deGoogle or deMicrosoft, and a collaboration office suite is almost a must. It's not very convenient to have to download a file, work on it, and then have to reupload it. It's the only reason I am still keeping my Google account.

Don't limit it to IOS. We need it for Linux, Windows, Linux, Android, Linux, and Mac. And don't forget Linux.

File sync for Windows / Mac / Linux is top priority
Basic notes app (to replace Word/Docs would be second)
If you create an integrated Sheets/Excel option, you would be the only and best option for a cloud based encrypted alternative to Google/Microsoft. -

+1 I just came to this page because I was looking for that. Online editable documents should be standard nowadays!

1. is critical
2. files/folders read/write or read only sharing is important
3. android app (without google layers), distributed in F-droid for example, is of interest. -

@George - do you really care only about yourself? What about Linux users? Did you forgot them? Certainly we need OS support, what people use: GNU/Linux different distros (e.g. AppImage), macOS both x86_64 and ARM64 CPUs, MS Windows - all OSes with autostart in system tray and automatic update features.
Android (including *.apk available without Google Play and Google account, e.g. via F-droid), iOS (also *.ipa available without AppStore and Apple account, some alternatives are https://alternativeto.net/software/app-store/?platform=iphone - kind of free and open-source like F-droid would be appreciated). -

Sync feature similar to OneDrive and Google Drive would allow me to move all my data across.

The automatic sync is an absolutely essential function from my perspective. As a member of the Swiss academic community, I have experienced this with SwitchDrive, where it works very well. In the "Finder" of my MacBook Pro, I can see the sync status very easily and it makes working with my assistant extremely easy. Would be absolutely a great incentive to use Proton more.

Yes, especially .docx and .xlsx files. The IOS app previews .docx files but the webmail doesn't.

We can start of with a simple rich ext editor that has basic formatting much like whats in the email system. What would be extremely useful is a wikistyle versioning and revision system. Something similar to confluence in Atlassian's Jira
