Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Proton now has Docs:
https://proton.me/drive/docs
And Sheets:
https://proton.me/drive/sheets

This feature would ensure I make protonmail my primary email and use it to store all my sensitive data.

This is exciting, but for me there would have to be a synchronization app for Linux like Dropbox has -- that auto-synced selected folders with the cloud.

You have my full support for an encrypted cloud storage service. Anything to get away from Dropbox and Google Drive, keep up the great work.

I see ProtonDrive is marked as "Planned." Do you know when it will roll out?

Why not partner with pCloud https://www.pcloud.com - they are also Swiss company and have strong security.

Very good idea. Maybe you should take a look to Switchdrive, for collaboration or other. They're Swiss, like you, hosted in Switzerland, and concerned with confidentiality too.

Protonmail Proton Vault Online Drive Storage
truly secure, Private without Ownership/copyright Risks
100% anonymous drive owner, tied to ProtonAccount through some random placement encryption ID.Just a safe accessible, secure and untraceable place what an age where hard copy documents will soon be no more, everything online and the current leading internet services are far from a service that could ever be called safe, secure, private, honest or user-satisfaction oriented at this time.
ProtonMail seems like they have the freedom, Privacy, Honesty, Support and human rights based company that s dedication of a world you should expect should be the reality of today.
I see proton with the support of the many user and the collective call for liberation to be able to be a light in a dark system, but its the people who will define the values by their web app choices.

I am currently using Sync. It's not bad, it's secure but it's terribly slow. A drive by Proton would be really great.

would make it much user friendly to have cloud storage and secure emailing from one service provider to a reasonable price
-should work as another backup to prevent data loss
-should be possible to sync across different devices if needed
-should be possible to invite others to create a team space in the cloud(with the sync option: it should be possible to recover an older state. I do not know if this is now resolved. a friend of mine catched a virus, it synced automatically and her data were completly lost. in dropbox, no older backup could be recovered.)

There is a philosophy of software that has withstood the test of time. And that is to do ONE thing and do it amazingly well.
You want a single piece of software to do everything imaginable including make you breakfast? Rest assured every feature will have some problem, incompatibility or inadequacy, and your breakfast *will* be cold.
I guarantee that if you stop looking for that one product that does everything, and instead searching for an office suite that does a fine job of being an office suite (have you heard of LibreOffice?) a calendar project that does an amazing job with everything you need from a calendar, and secure file storage by people who are experts at that, you will find your digital life a lot more productive and with a lot less headaches.
In my opinion, the best way Protonmail can rival insecure email providers, is to do a rock solid job of providing a flawless email product.

The more features that get added to a piece of software, the poorer each feature becomes. Protonmail, as I understand it, has the goal of providing privacy-oriented email service, and doing an amazing job at it.
If they start throwing in documents, spreadsheets, presentations, make you breakfast each morning... than each of those features will not be as good as a project whose job is to do that particular thing - and do it well.
Have you tried LibreOffice? That project is doing a great job of making office software that you can use to send compatible documents to users of Microsoft Office or (yuck!) Google Documents.

Could Protonmail for Business support document collaboration by two or more people who aren't employees of the same organization, but do sign a nondisclosure agreement? Use cases for integrating Protonmail email, contact manager, document collaboration, and survey might include: 1) Negotiating contracts, 2) Drafting audit procedures, 3) Dividing audit responsibilities, and 4) Reporting audit results.
