Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Proton now has Docs:
https://proton.me/drive/docs
And Sheets:

I'm all for it.
I'm curious to hear opinions on nCryptedCloud, which I currently use. Any better recommendations? -

As a couple of others have pointed out, there are several products that have been doing this for years. SpiderOak & Tresorit offer encrypted zero knowledge storage.
An easy to set up solution for keeping your files current on all of your devices is Syncthing. It is a peer to peer sync instead of a cloud, but it is free (FOSS), encrypted transfer, fast, and the only limit on data is your physical storage space.
I don't see what ProtonDrive would add that is unique, and it would be behind its competition. -

If the offered a hosting of nextcloud with apps that i can add i might be interested. But if their own service probably not be interested.

Just use Owncloud, NextCloud or similar hosted from a NAS you run at home. You're in control and have the option of not opening it up to the web.
I've been running this succesfully on FreeNAS for 8 months and have had no issues.

Wow! This really exploded in votes!
Anyway, @Anonymous, I think that it's different for ProtonMail since ProtonMail already offers an email service. Since they already have the technology to encrypt emails, it would probably be trivial to create an encrypted ProtonDrive that shares storage with ProtonMail.
As for the competition, I think the users of ProtonDrive will primarily be ProtonMail users and ProtonDrive will attract more users for both ProtonMail and ProtonDrive.
And I don't see how ProtonDrive would open ProtonMail up to more hacks. Isn't ProtonDrive just as secure as ProtonMail?
Overall, it seems like a pretty good idea to me! :)

I support this idea. Recently I decided to change Syncwerk(old seafile) for my cloud service provider. Since there are very limited trustable option I decided to use Mega(hey at least I like Kim Dotcom, he is a lovable person). But if Protonmail were to open cloud storage service, I would switch in a heartbeat.

I don't understand why many users of ProtnMail are suggesting products which will only open the company up to hacks.
Firstly, there are several really good encrypted based online/cloud/storage drives available to users which offer client and cross-platform compatibility.
Secondly, can you imagine the cost Proton will set them at if they did have such a service, I don't think they'll be able to compete.
To give you one perfect example of a similar minded company which let go of its service. GoldenFrog which I'm sure you aware of also offers a VPN service and they also at one point for a number of years offered a secure storage service as well which was quite good but they deprecated a couple of years ago probably because not all of their many VPN customers appreciated it and they're weren't just many customers globally in general.
Developing/engineering a storage service would probably break the team.
here are some good alternative to GMails based product:
https://mega.nz/ (requires a bit more investigation)
If ProtonMail did create such a service I think it would looks something like this, it doesn't particularly match the others above -
https://www.egnyte.com/corp/plans_pricing.htmlIf the team really did contemplate this though I'd strongly suggest getting advice from GoldenFrog as to why they deprecated DumpTruck which is what they called their service, perhaps you could even purchase their code from them if you were still insistent on engineering such a service.

It's not and urgent problem to solve, Tresorit is a trustworthy company that already provides cloud storage and as far as I know it is very secure.

I would welcome hosting services from ProtonMail as well. In the meantime you can safely switch to Yandex Drive which offers pretty much the same environment as Google drive and is secure enough.

Hi Bob, during their last DDos hack it was sort of evident that the hackers couldn't gain access to the mailbox so I don't see any real advantage to have this feature.
Great for that particular software but maybe not for email.

This would be perfect! Encrypted Proton Drive with a separate IOS and android application so we can have a safe place to store all our stuff!

It would be best if ProtonDrive was built on top of blockchain technologies similar to storj.io or filecoin.io. Some other user mentioned https://sia.tech as well.
