Drive sharing needs to be two-way. Others need to be able to drop files into the drive I'm sharing with them. Perhaps have an option to allow two way sharing. Or have a file upload capability for people to use to return files to me too.

If I share p.ex. a dropbox folder via whatsapp, the folder’s name is shown to the recipient enclosed to the sent link. This creates a nice individual / personal impression. When I share a proton folder, it only shows ‚Proton drive‘ and some general information about Proton.

Go Daddy's OnLineFileFolder had some of those features. Too bad it went the way of the (insert any of a growing number of species being forced to extinction by humankind's resource depletion and habitat destruction).

I agree with Aaron who posted below. I am a musician sharing with other musicians so sharing files is absolutely essential. If Protonmail came up with such a facility or even a shared membership scheme where specific communities such as composers can share files then I think there would be a big uptake on paid membership.

It suprises me that this feature has so less votes to be honest. For us also it is quite mandatory that normal, feasonable sharing features with regard to sharing folders and files become availlable. The sharing link isn't simply an option. On the one side, because of the amount of URL's that need to be kept in the favorites of my family members and relatives, and on the other hand because of the fact that it than ain't possible to edit files.

And to be honest, I do not find it a quite secure way of working and a little bit vulnerable. There only needs to be one Security incident only (for example a type of spyware or so) and all of the sensitive files shared trough links will be exposed.

Besides that, configure mutliple accounts is not a real prefered way of working, since it then ain't possible anymore to reject folders from sharing.

It's very important from a security perspective to be able to share links with only certain people instead of just the "anyone who has a link". The password provides security but is not a good solution because then you need to try to get the password to everyone you want to share with and they have to remember it somehow. If I can just share the link with trusted email addresses like other providers do, that would be excellent. Also provide different levels of permissions like edit, view only.

There are a few things mentioned here, so I want to clarify my relatively simple use case. I have a Visionary account with 6 users and 3TB of storage, but no way to create a shared space to store files for those users. Sharing folders with other Proton users would be a nice to have, but the priority is those within the same account or organisation within Proton.

2 years after we only have link sharing but not sharing within an organization. It is a shame.

This is the one of two features without which I can't fully switch over to exclusively using Proton Drive. Without the ability to have others send files to my drive in some way, either by file requests or shared folders, this Proton Drive is of limited use to me.

Agree with the proposal including granting permissions including read-only, read/write, and write-only (dropbox).

The main negative to this is that i suspect there's a concern that ProtonDrive would just get used as a "warez distribution" (or worse) medium which would cause all sorts of negative attention.

Share a folder with photos and presenting is as a gallery!

That's all I need to get free from other cloud drives.

PLEASE MAKE THIS AVAILABLE IN PROTON DRIVE ASAP!!

Does Proton Drive enable folder sharing? This folder sharing capability is basic functionality for a cloud-based file sharing system. Until this is enabled or clarified, I'm forced to use services like Box or Google Drive which are much less secure.

Being able to share a whole folder would make proton drive useful for me and my housemates.
Until then, google docs provides too much value to make the switch.

YES -- We need the option to share folders! When will this be available?

,,,But I don't want a zip function at first as the only thing, I think I want the user to be given a web page GUI to the proton drive folder and they can decide what to do from there. In other words if they have the link then they effectively have a "guest login" to my ProtonDrive for only that directory with read-only-access by default.
