Proton Drive API
It would be amazing to have an API (like https://developers.google.com/drive/api/v3/about-sdk) to be able to make scripts that could automate uploading important files to ProtonDrive using a language like Python or similar.

A public Proton Drive API would allow integration with web apps that edit 'documents' (or any file really).
I have been working on a spreadsheet web app so I can move some of my important personal spreadsheets out of Excel/Dropbox/Google Sheets, and ideally I can plug into Proton Drive to edit and save my data securely. -

That would be amazing 😍

This is a huge issue for me. I want to be able to store these backups off site in a secure environment. If I'm already paying for this service, I want to make use of it in an automated way. I could code this comfortably, but need an API to do it.

I want to safely store the audio and video of surveillance cameras of my home but I don't trust any provider. I want it to be saved within Proton Drive, and could code it if you had an API...

I would like to integrate apps I build and use with Proton Drive. I saw some apps using Google Drive storage to sync across devices, and I want to do kind of the same, either with a general API or one specific to third-party app data storage.
I think this other idea is also related to this use case : https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/945460-general-ideas/suggestions/46848133-3rd-party-drive-api-sdk

I am a Visionary user and I would love to have this! It would allow me to utilize my ~6TB of storage space for automated backup purposes using rclone. Existing experimental API probably does not work with Sentinel.

API will help ensure data privacy and durability to manage my own backups

This is a missing piece for me to really switch to Proton Drive. It would be cool if the API could be designed like github apps.

Yes I would love to see this! I'm thinking about an automatic backup system for Immich!

An API would be a "Shut up and take my money now" situation

This is exactly what keeps me from committing to Proton.
I want to easily integrate Proton with my Synology. As long as I have to pay for another service just for backing up my Synology, the price for Proton is just too much. -

Basically useless without an API. Will be using S3 until there is one.

If I can't use Cyberduck to upload files, Proton Drive is useless to me.

I will be finally making the switch from unlimited to family once this happens. I look forward to being completely free from Google! It seems like if we got an API the Open Source community could handle the rest on our own.

I want an all in one solution for privacy and backup. I use protonmail, protonvpn, protoncalendar, protondrive and proton pass.... I also want that Protonbackup facility for my business files to my protondrive. Using a Synology NAS for my 321 backup strategy, an API or whatever to allow me to use that to backup securely online to my protondrive would be great.

If you provided well-documented APIs/bridges for all services, the Linux community could develop their own clients with tighter DE integration.
You can see a CLI example of this in rclone's support for Proton Drive.
This could be done in addition to, not instead of, packaging the existing Electron desktop apps for Linux.

This is the only thing still tying me to Dropbox.

This would enable keepass android apps and other sync apps to add support for syncing to proton drive.
