Proton Drive API
It would be amazing to have an API (like https://developers.google.com/drive/api/v3/about-sdk) to be able to make scripts that could automate uploading important files to ProtonDrive using a language like Python or similar.

This is exactly what keeps me from committing to Proton.
I want to easily integrate Proton with my Synology. As long as I have to pay for another service just for backing up my Synology, the price for Proton is just too much. -

Basically useless without an API. Will be using S3 until there is one.

If I can't use Cyberduck to upload files, Proton Drive is useless to me.

I will be finally making the switch from unlimited to family once this happens. I look forward to being completely free from Google! It seems like if we got an API the Open Source community could handle the rest on our own.

I want an all in one solution for privacy and backup. I use protonmail, protonvpn, protoncalendar, protondrive and proton pass.... I also want that Protonbackup facility for my business files to my protondrive. Using a Synology NAS for my 321 backup strategy, an API or whatever to allow me to use that to backup securely online to my protondrive would be great.

If you provided well-documented APIs/bridges for all services, the Linux community could develop their own clients with tighter DE integration.
You can see a CLI example of this in rclone's support for Proton Drive.
This could be done in addition to, not instead of, packaging the existing Electron desktop apps for Linux.

This is the only thing still tying me to Dropbox.

This would enable keepass android apps and other sync apps to add support for syncing to proton drive.

Its very difficult to use proton drive for anything serious without one of these:
* Shell integration (a la Apple Drive)
* A synchronization App
* An Api (which we can use before the top 2 come along) -

I'm trying to decide where to get storage to programmatically upload clips to my video channel, and I need storage with an API. I'd love to use Proton since I have my mail and VPN there but there's no drive API

Implementing an API for ProtonDrive would significantly expand its functionality and appeal to a broader range of users and applications.
Now that I have started using ProtonDrive, I realize it has many shortcomings that could be addressed with an API (and share them with the community).

The ideea is to be able to fetch programatically files / directories shared (public). For example I may have a site to share some images / videos but without exposing the real source (Proton drive).

Would come in handy to automate remote backups.

S3 Compatible API is absolutely a must.

Our entire software development team works on Macs (18 people). Either build us Mac client or allow us to upload files to an API. Without either solutions we have to stick with Google Drive (which is bad).

This would be great to allow more options to back up to/from Proton Drive and really make it useable.

For me, this would be a main criterion before switching to an Unlimited plan
