Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

WHY HAS A NATIVE SYNC OPTION OR APP NEVER BEEN DEVELOPPED FOR LINUX? WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ACCOMPLISHED YET? A SECURITY CONSCIOUS SUITE OF APPS THAT ONLY SUPPORTS GOOGLE (ANDROID), MICROSOFT (WINDOWS) AND APPLE (MACOS). THIS IS NUTS AND MAKING ME LOOK TO ALTERNATIVES TO PROTON SERVICES. 4 YEARS OF WAITING IS LONG !!!!!!!!!! ENOUGH. GET IT DONE!

Grrr, i have a subscription for 2 years and found out that my operating system (Debian) is unsupported. And I am afraid that when it is supported it will be through the c# which i avoid

Also disappointed that a privacy-focused product does not support Linux, or publish any kind of API documentation that allows open source developers to add integrations.

I switched from Windows to Linux for security and privacy. I also want to get away from big tech companies. A linux app for Proton Drive is needed asap.

I moved the entire family to Proton and now I'm surprised there's no way for me to sync a backup of our files from Linux to Proton Drive. With rclone now broken, there's not even a hacky way. Luckily I didn't subscribe for 12 months directly and seriously considering reverting the decision.

I have switched to Linux form Windows because of privacy concerns, and am now starting to disengage from other compromised platforms, starting with Google. Proton seemed the obvious alternative for mail and drive, but it is bizarre - and completely counter to the focus on privacy - that there is no Linux client for Drive.

Definitely a must. A lot of people are turning their Windows laptops into Linux machines due to increased surveilance and spying these days.

Considering Proton's target audience I'm genuinely shocked there's no Linux client. This is a dead stop for a lot of users

There are several proposals requesting exactly the same, so it is more important than what this one alone shows.
This should be a TOP PRIORITY in Proton roadmap.

Ability to backup directly to Proton Drive in Linux.

In the process of migrating from Windows. I will wait a bit and really hope you manage to deliver the client before I lose patience and need to switch to different cloud provider. A timeline would be helpful!

We really need the same functionality for Drive on linux as other OS have
Without it Drive isn't really a functional backup or cloud system (yeah manual backup is a thing but I pay for a drive system so i can't forget by accident)

Has anyone tried this alternative yet? :

This is exceptionally important for me. I need a client for Drive in particular, but I would really love a client for each of the Proton apps (hopefully not a ****** Electron wrapper). I use Arch Linux, and for the few things Proton provides Linux packages for, they tend to be .deb and .rpm.
If you do make these clients, please split Mail and Calendar into two applications so that my desktop environment (COSMIC) can recognize the Calendar app as a calendar client.

I pay for Proton Drive, but without syncing under lInux it is not as useful as i would want it to be

I am a Linux Mint user. Having moved from Microsoft Windows I really miss tight operating system integration.

This is absolutely needed.
Having the option to not just sync but also to mount Proton Drive would be an absolute game changer.
