Proton Drive Integration with Android Default Storage
I haven't yet found a way to set Proton Drive as a default storage location on Android within the "My Files" functionality which drives selectable save options for most file save actions. Obviously, Google Drive is available along with MS OneDrive, internal storage, SD storage and network storage. Having Proton Drive set here would make file management much easier on Android mobile.

This is one reason I'm happy to pay my subscription. I'm willing to pay money to help make sure this feature gets developed.

This feature prevents me from using Proton Drive at the moment. When can we expect this feature?

Massively required feature. You can already do this with Apple devices without the requirement for a third party app. It shouldn't be that difficult and it has been a major drawdown for my experience. I wanted to use Proton Suite mostly for the other features but I purchased Proton Unlimited for a full and seamless experience. That is the benefit of it. But finding that I can't find a form to sync Proton Drive with my Android devices to sync stuff like my Obsidian Vault is a massive con. It makes me consider to leave most of the tools to go to a cloud storage like MEGA, which also includes VPN and password manager but I have the possibility (paying) to sync my cloud storage with a local folder without requiring a 3rd party app.

Required for Obsidian & Threema backups.
To maintain the higher level security for the other folders that don't require Android local folder access, the current solution could be kept in parallel. -

This is very important as Proton Drive is folder based on computer versions.
This app is cool and works well, but that folder feature is critical! Can we know what you think about this feature?
Are you considering it? Is it possible?Anyway, thank you for that amazing suite.

I'll also weigh in here. Cloud storage without file syncing is rather useless.
It is essential to be able to mirror specific folders on your Android device with specific folders in the cloud, for plenty of applications. Preferable the nature of the mirroring (two -way, download only, upload only, ...) can be specified per folder pair.
Use cases:
I have several distinct picture folders on my phone (of phone camera, external camera, ...) that all get synced to their own online folder. Editing a picture on the phone should result in it being edited online. Cleaning up a photo album on my laptop should result in it being cleaned up on the phone. An ebook collection from my laptop should automatically be downloaded on my phone as the e-reader app only scans local folders. Deleting a read book on the phone should then not delete it online.
Sound files edited on my laptop (Linux, see other vote), should end up in my phone's VLC folder, ...
Dropsync Pro does this flawlessly for Dropbox, if examples would be needed. I happily move to Proton if this (basic...) functionality would be added.

Without this functionality it is not possible for me to switch from Google Drive to Proton Drive. For me this is the most important missing functionality.

ProtonDrive is unusable without folder sync.
I cant keep zipping my folders up and uploading maniually. I just dont understand how ProtonDrive doesmt.offer this technical and privacy concerns aside, since the other products are superb. Its really a deal breaker

A significant part of the reasons I paid for and installed this service is apparently still missing. Key pass, Obsidian and photos all need local file presence to be useful.

There's a lot more than just photos on my phone. I currently use FolderSync to sync arbitrary folders on Android, but of course it can't sync to Proton, only non-secure cloud storage like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. Sadly, Proton Drive can't replace these for me until it supports local folder syncing.
This is my #1 most wanted feature.

At this rate just consider making an Obsidian plugin as well :) But I would love to use this for other apps as well, but mainly Obsidian.

I don't get why this works for DCIM but not for anything else... Same as the others, Obsidian backup

Or something like a temporary folder, where the chosen file (e.g. a Word Document) is temporarily decrypted and downloaded until I have finished editing it in the Android Word app. After that, my Word Document will be uploaded back to Proton Drive, overwrite the previous file version and completely delete the file from the local temporary folder.

Real hard to "deGoogle" my life when a simple integration with local storage to auto backup my 2fas has to be done with google drive because proton doesn't allow it

This would be great. Many of my apps (Signal, etc.) make local backups, and it would be great to have an option to have these automatically uploaded to Proton Drive. Bonus point for being able to schedule a time of day this local folder sync would run.

I need to back up my chat history in messengers like Signal and Threema, which requires sync local backup with some cloud solution like Proton Drive on daily/weekly basic.

I currently have my Obsidian vaults in Google Drive for use across Android, Mac and Linux. I want to switch to Proton Drive, but this is one of the main things holding me back from signing up to Proton Ultimate.

This is really a very fundamental feature and needed for linux and android. Mega is providing such feature since a few weeks. Please, proton hurry up and ship such feature as well. Thank you.
