Proton Drive Android App — sync with a local folder
I would really like the ability to not only have the offline-available files be accessable from within the Android app, but to also be able to specify a local folder on my device where those files would be located, so I could access them from any other app. Any remote changes are synced to the local files, any local changes are synced to the remote files. One of the reasons is that I need a way to sync my KeePass database between my desktop and my phone. Right now I'm using OneDrive for it, which I believe provides some kind of API for app developers to be able to sync changes between the cloud and the app. It's the only thing I'm using OneDrive for, and I'd really like to finally stop using it.

This feature would be very helpful to me since it would allow other apps to open Proton Drive files, which is the main use case of a cloud storage for me.
I really hope it gets implemented, in which case I would surely pay for a Proton Unlimited subscription and use Proton Drive as my main cloud storage.
Thank you in advance,
François. -

I fully agree with all people here, I would also very much like to be able to sync my Obsidian vault across devices in Proton Drive, especially android.

Hello.
This feature is essential for me at work and for personal use.
I don't want to depend on Google, Microsoft, or another multinational company that, ultimately, doesn't respect my privacy and even profits from my data.

I use a privacy-focused notes setup with Obsidian and Saber, and Proton Drive for secure backups. The only missing piece is automatic local folder sync on Android. Right now, I have to use Syncthing to keep everything in sync between my phone and desktop. If Proton Drive added this feature, I could rely fully on Proton’s ecosystem without needing any third-party tools. Would love to see this implemented!

Not trying to threadjack, hear me out:
If this suggestion works how I think it does, I would love for ProtonDrive to appear on my list of Network Drives in the Android/Tizen Samsung MyFiles app. Google Drive already appears there but it would be so nice to see ProtonDrive there instead.
However, what the original poster suggested here would be a great middle-ground -- making it critical for me.

Absolutely needed to sync files between applications. I expected to be able to access my obsidian notes using Proton Drive, but this is not possible. So disapointing. Proton drive should bring atransparent filesystem when the user is logged in.

I need the same also to sync Obsidian folders but specially to sync Photos from the phone as regular files which i can organize later in subfolders, so removing the need for a Albums feature.

Gigantic downgrade compared to most other offers on the market. Makes proton drive unusable for a lot of workflows

Very much a needed feature, please add asap

As many others stated, this is so needed to be able to auto-sync local backups of apps that don't have a (secure) cloud backup option. Please consider putting it on the roadmap soon.

This is one reason I'm happy to pay my subscription. I'm willing to pay money to help make sure this feature gets developed.

This feature prevents me from using Proton Drive at the moment. When can we expect this feature?

Massively required feature. You can already do this with Apple devices without the requirement for a third party app. It shouldn't be that difficult and it has been a major drawdown for my experience. I wanted to use Proton Suite mostly for the other features but I purchased Proton Unlimited for a full and seamless experience. That is the benefit of it. But finding that I can't find a form to sync Proton Drive with my Android devices to sync stuff like my Obsidian Vault is a massive con. It makes me consider to leave most of the tools to go to a cloud storage like MEGA, which also includes VPN and password manager but I have the possibility (paying) to sync my cloud storage with a local folder without requiring a 3rd party app.

Required for Obsidian & Threema backups.
To maintain the higher level security for the other folders that don't require Android local folder access, the current solution could be kept in parallel. -

This is very important as Proton Drive is folder based on computer versions.
This app is cool and works well, but that folder feature is critical! Can we know what you think about this feature?
Are you considering it? Is it possible?Anyway, thank you for that amazing suite.

I'll also weigh in here. Cloud storage without file syncing is rather useless.
It is essential to be able to mirror specific folders on your Android device with specific folders in the cloud, for plenty of applications. Preferable the nature of the mirroring (two -way, download only, upload only, ...) can be specified per folder pair.
Use cases:
I have several distinct picture folders on my phone (of phone camera, external camera, ...) that all get synced to their own online folder. Editing a picture on the phone should result in it being edited online. Cleaning up a photo album on my laptop should result in it being cleaned up on the phone. An ebook collection from my laptop should automatically be downloaded on my phone as the e-reader app only scans local folders. Deleting a read book on the phone should then not delete it online.
Sound files edited on my laptop (Linux, see other vote), should end up in my phone's VLC folder, ...
Dropsync Pro does this flawlessly for Dropbox, if examples would be needed. I happily move to Proton if this (basic...) functionality would be added.
