Proton Drive Android App — sync with a local folder
I would really like the ability to not only have the offline-available files be accessable from within the Android app, but to also be able to specify a local folder on my device where those files would be located, so I could access them from any other app. Any remote changes are synced to the local files, any local changes are synced to the remote files. One of the reasons is that I need a way to sync my KeePass database between my desktop and my phone. Right now I'm using OneDrive for it, which I believe provides some kind of API for app developers to be able to sync changes between the cloud and the app. It's the only thing I'm using OneDrive for, and I'd really like to finally stop using it.

I do understand from a security perspective why cloud services will bury the folders in the root of the phone somewhere, but it should be something https://modilimitado.io/en/games that the consumer decides, I am tired of having companies decide I need some kind of nanny for security.

Perform backup tasks automatically on mobile and desktop apps.
Allow you to select folders from your device and assign a destination path on your Proton Drive.
then automatically back up any changes.
Either - one way, or two way sync.
Thus allowing you to save things such as WhatsApp backups, Obsidian files etc... -

I agree, for me it is important to have it with Obsidian synced in a local way on my android phone

This is a must have feature! Every device should have this functionality in Proton Drive!

Would be also required to use Logseq. As soon as proton implements this, I can get rid of a Syncthing client

As many mentioned, to sync Obsidian would make life a lot smoother. And this is a prerequisite.

I currently use Google Drive and the third party app DriveSync for this functionality. On my quest to ditch Google, this is a must! It's very helpful for notes apps like Obsidian

i never used onedrive photo backup because i hated how it squished all my folders into one, only once i discovered the third party onesync it became viable for me
now id love to replace onedrive with proton, but since theres no api or first party solution for that, there no way currently to run folder based sync
also, same thing for obsidian

This could be a massive feature for people trying to get out of the big tech ecosystems. For example, people using Google Keep can easily migrate to Obsidian and backup their notes by just syncing the folder with Proton Drive.

This is very important to me too, though in my case I want to use it to sync my Joplin Notes, though I can connect the app to OneDrive, I'd rather not directly connect apps to any cloud service. OneDrive gives you no control over what folders an app can access, unlike when you share a folder link with a friend. I was hoping Proton Drive might have an option to add a local folder that I have access to on my phone.

This feature is a must for me. I have an ever changing library of books, PDFs, and videos that I need to be synced to the cloud automatically whenever a change is made locally. It's very much a pain to upload/delete them manually to proton drive whenever I make a change on my local device.

I would need to be able to edit a file directly from proton drive android without the need to : download, go to android file system, open file, upload the modified file to proton, delete the file from local file system. There is a couple of threads about this feature but that have less than 30 votes. If I have a dedicated folder for off-line files that would syncronize auto, I think that would resolve. Does my use case fits here?

This would be absolutely fantastic for me as well. I have a library of books that I'd like to sync across all of my devices through proton, but this requires a folder sync to load in my reader apps.

Exactly the same need as a lot of commenters. I would love to be able to sync a local folder on my laptop with a local folder on my phone. First use case is a notes app, in my case Obsidian. But I can think of way more usecases

Same need here, local sync for both KeypassX files and Obsidian notes would be awesome.

I very much want to move away from Google Drive to proton, but I need to be able to sync KeePass database across devices, so through-filesystem access is a must

I would immediately upgrade my subscription if this was a feature. Would be especially helpful for notes apps, like Obsidian.

I would appreciate this as well. I want to sync my Obsidian notes across all my devices by storing my vault on Proton Drive.
Currently, I am unable to sync my mobile phone, so I need to check if OneDrive or Google Drive could be viable alternatives.
