Table of Contents :: Proton Docs
Thanks for making Proton Docs!
Will you please add a button to toggle a floating table of contents to the left side of a document that is being viewed or edited?
Ideally, the TOC would show the headers of the document that would scroll to that part of the document when clicked. This would be similar to the feature in Google Docs. Additionally, a config option for it to set how many headers deep it would show would also be helpful.
Thanks again!

Going through a document of more than a couple of pages is very difficult without a Navigator/Outliner/Table of Contents panel, like the one in Google Docs. It becomes basically impossible if the document reaches a 50 page length, which most serious documents will. It's not clear to me why this feature only has 60 votes considering how crucial it would be for essential doc navigation. Tabs (recently added to Google Docs) are also extremely useful for keeping navigation fast and clean. But a basic ToC navigator would be a good start. Please add it as soon as you can.
I will add my voice to the others that switching away from Google Docs is not possible until this basic feature is added. Thank you!

i absolutely miss the TOC in almost every editor.
jumping to headers is sooo convienent for longer text files.idk if this would be a good idea to tweak it a little so you can add comments to the headers that do display when hovering over 'em by adding something like '// comment' under headers.
anyways, TOC is a must.

This is also a reason for me not switching entirely to Proton Docs from Google Docs.

This is the only reason keeping me from switching from Google docs to proton mail

I agree, this is an essential function i miss with Proton Docs. Would be really great! It is not really possible to work in longer documents without it.

I can easily work in the documents, but to use it for editing larger texts it becomes very very tedious to use without a table of contents.
The text style headings are there, so it seems like it should fairly simple to make the anchor links available -

this would be super useful

This is the most critical feature for me. If we had this, I’d be able to migrate off Google Docs entirely.

100% agree with the OP; this feature would greatly improve the user's ability to navigate larger documents and is, in my opinion, sorely needed.

having a TOC is a basic for navigation around anything other than a couple of pages. It allows separating out sections of the document, perhaps one being a blog... this is a basic feature of googledocs I cant do without when collaborating with others on a project across organisational borders.
