Table of Contents :: Proton Docs
Thanks for making Proton Docs!
Will you please add a button to toggle a floating table of contents to the left side of a document that is being viewed or edited?
Ideally, the TOC would show the headers of the document that would scroll to that part of the document when clicked. This would be similar to the feature in Google Docs. Additionally, a config option for it to set how many headers deep it would show would also be helpful.
Thanks again!
docs outline/table of contents is live for everyone now! <3

Without real features (such as the ones here) the switch from Google to Proton just isn’t possible for me. It’s too bad, too, because I’d really like to breakup with them and replace them and am determined to so. I’m willing to pay to move somewhere AI-free, encrycpted, and cloud-based, but it needs to be actually usable and offer the features that users need. After one request // vote you couldn’t implement this? Or even reply? I guess this isn’t where I will be trusting my documents.

Critical feature. I moved some large documents I am working on from Google Drive to Proton, but without this overview of contents I cannot do any serious work or research by Proton docs.
So I just moved my working documents back to Google Drive. Without a floating table of contents overview, Proton Docs can only be used for short shopping lists or the like. Very disappointing.... I hope this gets fixed, but this is not good enough for me to start using as my main documents software.
This means for now I can use Proton drive as a passive backup for files that I keep on Google Drive, but it is noway ready to be used as an active, main document editor, or research tool working on complexer, longer multi page projects or documents.
And now 1 week later it came, THANK YOU!!

Having an automatic table of contents in Proton Docs would make navigating long documents and technical notes so much easier. Supporting this feature request! When taking a quick break from checking product feedback forums, I like to check out oscarspin - https://oscarspins.ro/ for a bit of relaxation. Hope the development team considers adding this soon!

I bought a Duo plan without checking out all the services other than email because I believe in Proton and what their trying to accomplish. The first features I looked for in Docs after subscribing for 24 months was this Outline/TOC feature. I had a bit of buyers remorse until I saw this in QA. Hope it comes out soon! Thanks for prioritizing it.

When TOC is implemented, I can start using Proton Docs. Hope we will get it soon.

A floating table of contents would be a very useful addition to Proton Docs, especially for longer documents with many headings. Being able to click headers, jump to sections, and choose how many heading levels are shown would make navigation feel much closer to tools like Google Docs. More information here: https://moja.bet/

Thank you for the update - this is a critical function to get me away from Google docs. Moving into QA is great news.

Sad to see this is still not implemented, moved my main docs from google docs due to performance/etc issues but the lack of this feature is making me reconsider

Stop adding new things until you get the basics right please. Having a document app without a table of contents is like notepad, it's not even as good as wordpad.

So many votes, but no implementation yet?

Oh, this is excatly what I'm missing to make Proton docs the Google Docs killer. Will keep using it, but man, I miss it.

at minimum we need to be able to insert TOC at the top. ideally, we need a floating bar like any other modern docs have

Wad hoping to move over all my items from google today but my more complicated docs can't viably be used without a ToC navigation. Big let down.

Using headings in order to use a left side table of contents is absolutely critical to how I use documents. I've been putting off moving my google docs to proton docs due to the lack of this feature

For anyone who is writing a large paper or a novel, having a programmed table of contents that users can use to quickly navigate their document is crucial.

This would be incredible and add so much functionality to Proton Docs. I could take all my stuff off of Google if there was a Table of Contents and document tabs.
