Enable Auto Sync on MacOS
The instructions (with link below) are clear. There is no misunderstanding. However, I want a feature that turns on auto-sync so that I do not have to manually "Download now". I actually want this on ALL platforms (to be able to select what is always synchronized and what is not). I can do this on my own Nextcloud implementation. It should be standard for Proton Drive.

Crucial for me as well. I want to be able to mark specific folders as "I *always* want this locally available", because right now I find that I constantly have to re-download files that I use on *one* device, on a daily basis.
In the support article you link, it says "It is important to note that when you move, copy, or paste a file into Proton Drive, by default, they are stored locally on your device as well as the cloud until you make them cloud only.". I find that this is *not* the case for my Mac experience. Files seem to automatically go "cloud-only" in the background whenever I leave them alone for a weirdly short amount of time.
