Set External Drive as main location
My mac is the lowest spec but because of the speed of M processors it runs all my software for work better than any PC i've ever had. The cost of having a massive storage space inside my Mac is the reason I cannot use Proton Drive at the moment. I have 1TB external SSD which is my Dropbox location, if I could set Proton Drive to my external SSD as the main folder my life would instantly be better. I actually love how Proton Drive functions and am desperate to get out of the chaotic Dropbox ecosystem. Please explore an option to do this with Drive. It's extremely important that a large amount of files are locally accessible but also backed up on the fly for my work. I trust Proton more than any other service out there. Keep up the good work :]

Bump.
MacOS is great!
Apple's price for storage is laughable! If you want people to migrate from Google, and if we are here, we want to as well, the ability to sync a folder on a removable disk is critical. Google drive allows it. Please do so as well.

MAC drive is very expensive and limited.
I am using USB drive and Tresorit at the moment.
Waiting and others would also join Proton if it would work. -

I'd like to see this as part of a wider feature where I can choose any folder in Finder as the main location for ProtonDrive.
e.g. I could set my "Macintosh HD/Users/username" folder as ProtonDrive's main folder

I agree with this 100%. I would like to have my entire Proton Drive on an external drive. This keeps my fast storage on my Mac available for other things, but also allows me to have a full copy of my Proton Drive locally so I can back it up with TimeMachine.

This 100%. I used both Dropbox and Drive on external storage and while I don't mind having cloud only storage on some of my devices, for redundancy purposes, having one location that can hold all files offline just makes sense.
