How can we improve Proton Drive?

Thank you for creating Spreadsheets! I would love to completely move over from Google Sheets but

when i am typing in a cell, i should be able to hit the right or left arrow key and automatically move to the next cell over. I first have to hit ENTER to get out of editing, which moves the selected cell down a row, then I have to arrow right and up.

Repeating this process a multitude of times becomes time restrictive in cases of heavy data entry and both Google Sheets and Excel do not behave this way.

i have double-checked and, for the most part, Proton Sheets behaves similarly to comparable tools in regards to these kinds of interactions. i did notice some small gaps, but without a detailed description it's hard to determine what exactly you find missing. please make a report through the app if you want to share those details, and we'll take a second look at it :) - dani


pd: i noticed that there is a difference between just typing directly into a cell, or double clicking/pressing enter first then typing. in the former, arrows do work to quickly jump to nearby cells, while in the latter the arrows will instead move the caret within the cell value. maybe that's helpful information for what you're trying to achieve! - dani

    I'd be against the requested behavior. I think left or right arrow while editing a cell should move within the contents of the cell. Some other key combo should move to a different cell. (In my experience, if I remember correctly at least Excel has hybrid behavior here where the first time you edit a cell, hitting arrow will jump to another cell, whereas if you come back to edit hitting arrow will move you within the current cell contents. I personally find this behavior horrible - I'd strongly prefer consistency, and NOT ever having arrowing move to a different cell, but instead move within cell contents.)

    I feel like tab or shift+tab does what you want.

    What about TAB or SHIFT+TAB to move right/left?
