How can we improve Lumo?

Add Lumo to Firefox AI chatbots

I would love to see Lumo as an option for Firefox's AI chatbots selection. This would be a really good way to integrate it with the browser (outside of maybe making an extension in the future).

    I agree that having Lumo available directly in Firefox would make the experience much more seamless. The ability to use an AI assistant without constantly switching between tabs is especially useful for people who spend a lot of time working with text and online tools. I also like the broader idea of keeping useful productivity tools accessible from the browser, whether for research, writing, or regular skill practice. Resources such as the https://monkeytypehub.com/ can be useful for people interested in improving their typing and building better everyday computer habits. Hopefully Firefox continues expanding its AI integration in a flexible way.

    Hi, I’ve been experimenting with different AI tools in browsers and wanted something that could quickly analyze text without leaving the page. That’s when I tried https://aitextscanner.net/ to scan articles and drafts directly in Firefox. My first scans were a bit messy with formatting issues, but after adjusting a few settings, it highlighted key points and potential AI-generated sections clearly. It didn’t replace my reading, but it made reviewing and fact-checking much faster and more convenient.

    This is now possible! Set "browser.ml.chat.provider" to https://lumo.proton.me/ (nothing else or else you may get asked to select an account) and it will work!

    I would love firefox to offer it natively.

    @static7191 thank you for this :) exceptional advice and insight.

    I've still upvoted on the grounds it would be far more conveniant for all other proton users if this was native to firefox's functionality.

    You can make the sidebar work by changing `browser.ml.chat.provider` to the Lumo URL in about:config, but it will not autofill the prompt so you can't use it with the page integration like summaries or quizzes.

    What Lumo needs to do is read query parameter "?q=" if the page is loaded with it and auto-run the contents (or at least autofill the prompt box with it)

    This the the default way firefox adds the user prompt if it doesn't recognise the provider
