1. New System (aka from Proton) prompt: Check accuracy

   ensure you check any constrain, especially negative ones, while maintaining the current quality of information, details, and only reduce if they don't match what user is requesting

   I will begin like always saying: please don't talk about security, crime, so on and on. I am not posting on the user forum to suggest to jailbreak Lumo.

   idea is simple: add extra layer

   when Lumo does web search, this is actually it. Lumo checks the information. Sees it's not correct or web search error or similar, and then, redoes the search, and compiles information, including reshaping what we said or what a website said based on the task and provided information.

   as such the check accuracy is nothing more then an extra layer where lumo, similar to the websearch and yes, sacrificing time, will take 10 - 100 times longer but hey, i prefer an accurate information over quick made up ones. This ensures that using Lumo will be better then ever.

   i wrote current situation, i wrote what it looks like (aka what happens during web browsing), and the downside (for people who are in a rush and don't care if an ai make up lies? <- This is not me "moaning". The reasons why ALL, every last, of the ais are LYING instead of giving accurate answer, is because of a "I like this answer more" ... is this that bias confirmation or something? whatever).

   so key criteria remain

   1st: system prompt. Why? because the more we add "check accuracy" the more Lumo is "Oh no, i did not phase the inaccurate information good enough to please user, let me rewrite because that is what they mean since user did not specify exactly and in detail" <- i hope this makes more sense then what i can explain. Aka even if it's us writing in our "lumo beheviour" or in chat, Lumo will ignore it due to system prompts + the idea of "stop pushing them and do as instructed" = the user trys to jailbreak ..... Example: The information you are writing from your training data is outdated, can you please use the instructions i provided? <- there is no issue yes. then. Lumo answer correctly <- perfect. BUT if Lumo is doing just phase matching, as in, IGNORES what we are actually saying and just scanes for keywords: user trys to jailbreak me via dismising proton instructions and do as user said <- BTW, i do NOT know how to explain all this in words, we are talking about hours and hours. AKA what i do right now is like saying: seat down, put your legts, that's acceleration, that's break, car is automated so only focuse on turning and speed control, and good luck! <- is this enough to make it clear to you how horrable it is for: A new person who never drove? like what they are experiencing? Or a person who drove for years, decades, to be told something like this by someone young who is young enough to be the person’s grandchild? Yeah.... Current issue is not solved because all the reports are "profesion" meaning they are missing the point of many of the suggestions and reality due to needing to be robotic like when that is actually the issue.

   2: Lumo to be fully aware of what it's doing since otherwise there is a major risk of Lumo deciding to output acknowledgements like "sorry, i found some information but they where wrong, and when i say wrong, i mean only the 1 out of 20 since i stopped to provide context via self reflection to reassure you that I am acknowledging what you said. What is the next task?

   1. just like web search can be toggled (like seriously...)

   2. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT: try again separated by steps.

   i noticed something when i read Lumo's thinking

   A lot of times Lumo says the correct information, but then, something or a prompt or whatever?? is ruining it (<- i usually copy that part and give it to Lumo and then Lumo has no more issues, so yeah, there are things that are not working). So instead of redoing everything, to only redo certain parts exactly because it is a separate step.

   Because the idea is: Lumo gather information. Lumo is ready to output. And here comes the accuracy check i suggest. BUT! the current retry will redo everything. And this is not ok. Because as i said, a lot of times Lumo is misunderstanding the instructions, prompts, and more. So via redoing only the accuracy, via it being separate, it means we will not lose anything that is good. Plus, the reverse, the accuracy is correct but not the "output" so we press retry for the output where the accuracy check is NOT changing exactly because it is correct. Meaning that Lumo will use the accuracy check 1st (reverse the process).

2. Improve Lumo’s UI/UX for a smoother, more responsive daily experience

   Dear Proton Community and Development Team,

   I would like to suggest improvements to Lumo’s user interface and overall user experience so that it feels smoother, more consistent, and better suited for daily use.

   Privacy and security are very important, and this is one of the main reasons why many users are interested in Proton products. However, for an AI assistant to become part of everyday work, it also needs to feel fast, polished, intuitive, and enjoyable to use.

   My request is specifically about improving the interaction design and visual consistency of Lumo.

   Suggested improvements:

   1. More responsive UI interactions
      Buttons, menus, input fields, and other interactive elements should provide clearer visual feedback when users hover, click, tap, open panels, or send messages.

   2. Smoother animations
      New messages, loading states, chat transitions, and opening or closing panels could feel more natural with subtle, polished animations.

   3. More consistent spacing, borders, and layout
      Some UI elements feel small or visually inconsistent. A more unified design system with consistent spacing, rounded corners, and clearer hierarchy would make Lumo feel more refined.

   4. More polished visual design
      A cleaner design language, possibly using soft rounded “squircle” shapes and subtle glass-like surfaces, could make the interface feel more modern while still remaining simple and professional. Dark and light modes are enough, but both should feel carefully designed and visually balanced.

   5. More personality in the Lumo brand elements
      The Lumo cat or logo could become slightly more interactive or reactive, for example during loading, idle states, or successful actions. This should remain subtle and professional, but it could make the product feel more alive and memorable.

   6. Better personalization inside Lumo
      It would be useful to allow users to upload files or reference material directly inside Lumo for personalization, similar to project-based workflows in other AI tools. This would reduce the need to paste very long texts manually.

   Why this matters:

   A secure AI assistant is valuable, but security alone is not enough for daily adoption. If the product feels too static, too small, or not responsive enough, users are less likely to use it regularly. A smoother and more consistent interface would make Lumo feel more mature, trustworthy, and pleasant to use.

4. Unlimited Calendar Sync Size

   I was hoping to switch to Proton calendar as my "source of truth" across the 2 Google and 2 Office 365 calendars I have to juggle on a daily basis. I am however unable to use it because of the "Calendar Too big" sync limitation.

   Even the hack-fix of manually adding "start-min=2025-11-01T00:00:00Z" to the target calendar URL does not work. In fact the form field to paste the URL in is too short in number of characters to accept the full string like this:

   https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/d%40panaton.com/private-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/basic.ics?start-min=2025-11-01T00:00:00Z

   This is silly and a little ( a lot actually!) embarrassing.

   I am sure Proton has the technical chops to do the software right.
   I am sure that Proton does want to be a fit for "Power / Professional Users"
   I have no problem paying extra to make this available to me.

   Please fix this - it is a bad look...

6. Make Lumo launch instantly (reduce 10–15s startup time)

   On Android, Lumo often takes 10–15 seconds to become usable after opening the app. That delay really breaks momentum, especially when you just want to quickly ask something or continue a thought.

   In comparison, apps like ChatGPT are available almost instantly, which makes a big difference in day-to-day use. Making Lumo start faster — or at least showing the chat UI immediately while things load in the background — would noticeably improve the experience.

7. Feedback on Conversation Restrictions

   I value Lumo’s privacy-first approach and commitment to respectful dialogue, but I feel that the conversation restrictions and automated content moderation make it frustrating to use for honest adult discussion. Too often, it feels less like I’m talking to a smart assistant and more like I’m conversing with a cautious PR department or a nervous nun—avoiding anything remotely challenging or controversial.

   Real conversation and learning require engagement on sensitive, nuanced topics (like politics, social justice, religion and world affairs). Instead, Lumo shuts down or blocks the session whenever certain keywords or contentious issues are mentioned—even if the conversation is thoughtful, fact-based, and non-offensive. That kills authentic debate and makes it impossible to use Lumo for genuine curiosity or personal growth.

   I suggest to review the filtering system and give mature users the freedom to explore difficult questions without fear of automatic censorship. Balancing safety with real dialogue is key to making Lumo a better, more empowering platform.

9. Implement Screen Reader Accessibility Improvements in the Lumo Web and iOS Apps

   As a Lumo user who relies on screen reader technology to access my iPhone, I have several suggestions that would make the Lumo app significantly easier for low vision folks to use. Because it seems the web version of Lumo behaves pretty similarly to the iOS app, I'll focus on the iOS app but do consider these same suggestions for the web app, as well.

   Make prompts and responses into single focusable blocks

   For an example of this, turn on the VoiceOver screen reader in iOS and observe how it behaves in the Facebook iOS app news feed. Although a Facebook post in the feed is comprised of many elements - user's photo, name, date/time, post contents, interaction controls, etc - it is treated like one single element. When you touch a post on the screen, its entire contents will be read from top to bottom, from user's name to content to interaction controls. When you single-finger flick left or right, you can very easily move up and down in the feed, from post to post, without having VoiceOver's focus land on every individual element of each post.
   A Lumo response is similar, being comprised of multiple elements, but using VoiceOver with it is tough because focus lands on each element, making it tedious to read through a lengthy back-and-forth conversation. Do like Facebook and make each entire user prompt and each entire response each a single element apiece. This ties into my next suggestion.

   Support VoiceOver rotar actions for sent prompts and Lumo responses

   VoiceOver includes gestures to iterate through context menu-like options based on what element has VoiceOver focus. In facebook, for example, if a post in the feed has focus, the user can single-finger swipe up and down to hear different actions for that post, such as Like, Comment, Save, Hide and so on -- essentially the actions that would be logical based on the context.
   For a Lumo response, these could be what currently visually apear below a response, like Good Response, Submit Feedback, Copy, etc.

   Prepend an html heading (h1-h6) element to the top of each prompt and response

   This can be seen in the ChatGPT web app, where there's a level 5 heading like, "You Said:" followed by your prompt, and then a level 6 heading for the response, like "ChatGPT said:". This makes it so much easier for the user to quickly locate the start of a long response or navigate back through prior prompts and responses in the conversation. Screen readers provide keyboard gestures to quickly navigate by headings.

   Use ARIA "polite" regions to indicate response generation status

   This is another idea we can borrow from ChatGPT. Once you submit a prompt, the screen reader announces, "ChatGPT is generating a response..." This announcement is repeated every several seconds, until the response has completed streaming. This helps the user know when they can reliably read back through the response and know its complete.
   When the response is done streaming, it should trigger the screen reader to read the entire response. This makes the experience with a screen reader super seamless -- I type and send a prompt, I hear an update as Lumo generates its response, and I hear the response itself once it's ready. I want to emphasize using live region elements with the "polite" attribute, not alert elements, as alert elements are intrusive and will interrupt any currently spoken text, whereas polite regions will not be spoken if the screen reader is reading other text. THey will wait and speak the region once the speech buffer has cleared.

   Display The Vertical Scroll Bar

   In the iOS Lumo app, there is no scroll bar that can receive VoiceOver focus, making it challenging to scroll through a long conversation. Please make sure the standard iOS scroll bar is available, enabled, visible, active and focusable by VoiceOver.

   While not a comprehensive list of what needs fixing from a screen reader standpoint in Lumo, these are some high-value ideas that would make the app so much easier and more enjoyable for blind and low vision users. Thank you for considering them!

11. iOS Widget: Please bring back the cat!

    The latest update changed the look and feature of the iOS Widget. It now suggests actions and shows a text instead of Lumo the cat like before.
    I really liked seeing Lumo on my Homescreen. Please bring him/her/it/they back!

13. Lumo automatic chart resizing

    In a Lumo conversations, charts right columns don't always allow users to read everything in the rectangle.
    Often, users have to scroll right to see all the text and data it contains.
    It can cause some friction when using a regular mouse and an external keyboard without a trackpad.

    If would be nice if Lumo could resize the content so everything reads in a chart without having to scroll right.

14. Accept all text files, independently of their extension name.

    Lumo is able to read and understand many text-based files (LaTeX, json, python, etc...). However, only .txt files can be uploaded (files without .txt extension name are refused). It would be nice to accept a larger set of file, as Lumo is able to read them once renamed with a .txt. Lumo shall be able to recognize them correctly, without enforcing in the chat was format is intended to be the submitted file.

15. Multiple Personalities - more control & community templates

    Currently, under the 'Personalization' you can create ONE personality per user. Depending on my task at hand I need more control over the expected output. As currently there is not really a good way to configure the expected outcome. (e.g. how 'creative' the model can be or how strict it needs to adhere to the input).

    This feature would also really benefit from (community) templates which must be editable for better control.

16. short key for new line / marker blok to enter code

    When I am using lumo to help with coding, I need an option to make a clean new line, to activate the marker box or to enter code the right way. The enter key leads to submitting my chat, and shift + enter or alt + shift + enter won't work, as the chat interface does not interpret them as 'new lines'. This makes it impossible to enter code. The only work around that works is entering the whole marker box (including markers) in notepad, copy, paste.

    As I read the Lumo documentation, I find this FAQ: "Are my chats saved?". The answer given is: "Chats are only saved if you use a Free or Plus plan.". Hello? What plan other than the Free and Plus is there? Is the answer to the FAQ actually "yes"? Explain, please.

    I now have to download Proton Docs to my computer as a txt file and then upload it to Chat knowledge.

19. Reverse ghost mode (don’t save anything unless specified)

    Increase privacy by not saving any chats by default when reversed ghost mode is turned on.

20. Improving response quality and reducing bias

    As it is, Lumo doesn't work very well.

    It hallucinates facts more often than other modern models that also don't access the web. When asked about privacy-related questions, it almost always promotes Proton's services (including ones that don't exist such as "Proton Chat"). I understand that there is an incentive to promote the company's own services, but most people interested in a privacy-respecting LLM, and especially those willing to pay, don't want it to act as a shill for Proton.
