Contact birthdays appear on Calendar
Proton Contacts allows users to record the birthday for each contact. It would be great if these birthdays could automatically appear in Proton Calendar.

It would be helpful if a birthday/anniversary entered in the contacts could be made visible in the calendar (optionally activated) and reminders could also be made for it.

This would be awesome. If it could even take into account the birthday's year (if supplied), and include which birthday it is in the event title, that'd be so helpful - e.g. "Jim's 41st birthday".

I definitely need this feature and it would even better if all the birthdays/anniversaries are on a specific calendar that we can choose to show/hide and not in the main calendar

This get's more and more critical. I switched to proton from google and I start missing birthdays and I am not inclined to do this simple thing manually. It will take hours and is completely unnecesary.

I also would love to see this feature. Also it should be an option if you want to be reminded of birthdays. That's a feature I really miss with Google calendar it used to be in old android versions but is gone for now. Maybe that would make me switch completely to proton calendar.

I'm in favor of a simple implementation such as a switch with the words "add to calendar" this can go under any date added to a contact. Anniversary, etc...

This is the one and only thing that made me uninstall the Proton Calendar and go back to Google Calendar. Been checking on this feature every few months since then in the hopes of it being added so I can install Proton Calendar again. It's really that important to me. Please fix.

I am looking forward to this feature. In the meanwhile, I created a script for generating a birthday calendar (.ics) out of the exported contacts (.vcf).

I'm in favour of this feature.
An important distinction to make, however, is that contacts' birthdays should not *automatically* appear in Calendar, of course.
There should be an option to export birthdays to Calendar.
For example, when creating (or updating) a contact and setting a birthday, an off-by-default checkbox with a prompt such as "Create Calendar entry for this birthday?" could appear. -

If this feature is added please make it optional, I do not wish to busy my calendar with every contacts birthday, I can add the few that I wish to have on there.

This feature is crucial. I add a contact, its birthday and automatically receive event "birthday" in my calendar. It's very comfortable feature. If I don't care about birthday of my contact I will not set it :)

Hmmmmm...... what would actually be more useful is a birthday export to calendar from contacts which places an event two weeks before the birthday that says 'order [name]'s birthday present'!

Because birthday is a way to think about the ones we like, proton calendar could integrate birthday of proton contacts in its view. A notification when a the day of birthday contact could help users to always be on time.

In my opinion, this is already a common function in rivals products. I believe it will be implemented soon.

Good idea! One way to make it available but optional would be to automatically create a calendar with imported birthday and then you can choose to display it or not
