Customize calendar widgets
The new calendar widget is awesome! I can now actually switch to use proton calendar as my main calendar app.
One thing I would really like to see is the ability to make the widget background transparent. I guess to make it suitable for other user's requirements, it could perhaps allow the user to select a color (including transparency value).
This would allow me to make the calendar look nice on my homescreen and let me see more of my background. Currently it's the only thing with a colored background so it stands out a bit.
It would also be nice to select the text color so it stands out against the background color. This could be done in a similar way, or using the dark mode/light mode options as a simple text color toggle.

The lack of a transparency setting ruins my home screen. Sorry, but I am going back to my DAV calendar for now. Really hope this will be fixed.

Also, the ability to select which calendars it shows. Now the widget shows all calendars, including ones shared with me and public holidays. I only want to see my meetings in the calendar.
Only way around it is to hide the calendar in the app, which then:
1. Makes it difficult to check other calendars in the app (have to unhide it) and
2. Syncs the hide function to my computer, so the calendars are now hidden on my browser. -

I love that Proton Calendar has a widget for Android, but it doesn't hold up against the flexibility that a generic DAV calendar can get with the variety of compatible widgets available. I want to be able to choose a more (or less) compact format for my widget. I also want to be able to have it be transparent instead of solid white or black. Generally, exposing customization options to the user would be appreciated.

A transparent/oled-black background (white text to compensate) is more than just aesthetics. ADHD me has nothing on my homescreen but the proton calendar and 4 key apps to minimize distractions.
I remove all color from my phone and even use a black and white (not monochrome, binary black and white :P) icon pack. Pure black background. But protonmail breaks this theme. Which doesn't sound like an issue, but it is absolutely blinding to my eyes when everything else is so minimal and dark and distraction free.
I've heavily considered exporting my calendars to be imported into caldav or something to use another widget xD. Which... would ruin the whole privacy aspect unless I hosted my own server or somethnig. And aint no one has that many spoons :P.

Yes! There are 2 annoying "features" of the widget - lack of transparency is one of them! C'mon Proton, this is a small code change ...

The widget takes a lot away from the desktop background on Android devices ...

Backing into this - I have used the Samsung calendar widget for purely aesthetic reasons, namely its background is transparent and it allows me to color code each calendar I have sync’d to it (therefore events from all calendars are color coded accordingly.)
I would switch to proton calendar widget in a hot second if the aesthetics were there. I could easily see my own, secure, calendar along with the subscription calendars I would add to it (family, friends that don’t use proton yet) in a color coded way, and the background shows through.

Dear Proton team, I would love if there were customization options for the Calendar Widget, such as (from most to least important):
– Display days without events in the list (seeing that the next two days are free of events positively affects my mental health and I bet I'm not alone with that one)
– Display past events from the current day (this is handy if the calendar doubles as a to-do list)
– Change color scheme to Dark Mode (or at least automatically use same color scheme as Calendar App)
– Set how many weeks/months you want it to show
Thank you kindly in advance!
