video call integrations should hold up to privacy standards of proton
"Zoom has been criticized for its privacy and corporate data sharing policies, as well as for enabling video hosts to potentially violate the privacy of those participating in their calls." From Wikipedia.
There are plenty open source and privacy conscience alternatives!

Can we stop encouraging boondoggle product development like this when the existing products need so much work?

Nextcloud talk, Jitsi, BBB, we should be able to choose.

It would be absolutely awesome if Jitsi and Nextcloud Talk were supported.
Unfortunately, it's hard to get away from Zoom, since they built a very strong loyal customer base. No matter how hard I try, my self-employed colleagues swear by it and refuse to budge.

I am moving from Google to Profon because of privacy, not only convenience.. Having Zoom integrated is for me ridiculous.. is this the way Proton is heading? -.-

Couldn't agree more about this, the last thing I want Is a Zoom extension shoved in my calendar.

I was surprised to see the "Add Zoom Meeting" option, especially considering Proton has written multiple articles about Zoom's security and privacy concerns over the past few years. Now they're actively promoting Zoom by adding this option by default. Really strange move.

I'd love to see support for Element Call & Jitsi, at least for the main instances call.element.io and meet.jit.si.

I suggest signal.org. jitsi is my second choice.

I cannot stress how important this is. It's not just integration: even if you don't already use zoom, the calendar app actively advertises it by prominently displaying a link on the event edit page.
At the very least, there should be services providing better privacy (reasonable privacy policy, end-to-end encryption, self-hosting options...) offered at the same level. At best, such services would be featured more prominently than less private services, and there would be a message displayed to warn users when they are about to use a service that could compromise their data.
As far as trust-required services go, it would also be better to offer several options so users could at least choose which entity they are willing to trust.

replace the zoom link, with any links. zo privacy like tools like Jitsi or Big Blue Button
And as people want, (add a teams, google meet, or zoom link as wel)
And make a choice in settings in what browser, of what tool the videocall link has to be opend.

Yeah I was shocked today when I noticed the "Add zoom meeting" link when creating a new event.
Why on earth would Proton Calendar, a privacy centric product, link to a Chinese spyware service?
