BCH is a failed fork of Bitcoin used by a very small community that has a track record of attempting to scam newbies with dubious claims of being "the real bitcoin". Accepting BCH will likely diminish your reputation among the vast majority of Bitcoin users, many of whom dedicate their time to attempting to educate newbies and help them avoid cryptocurrency scams, such as a coin that claims to be "the real bitcoin" and has 0.4% of the hash power on SHA256.

I would love it if Protonmail accepted Dash. Dash is older than Bitcoin Cash, as well as much faster than Bitcoin Cash with its InstantSend transactions. This means that Dash has transactions that securely settle and are respendable within 1.2 seconds (or basically instantly).

You can actually chain-send Dash to different devices instantly for fun, which makes Dash ideal for payments where long wait-times are a no-no. This is much better than relying on unsafe 0-conf transactions like in Bitcoin Cash and other Blockchain 1.0 coins.

Bitcoin Cash and other blockchain 1.0 coins have to wait for "block confirmations" which take from 10 - 60 minutes. Oftentimes more nowadays with BCH's DAA being gamed. This means that services that accept these coins in lieu of Dash are limiting their users to a worse UX.

Dash also has stronger privacy than Bitcoin Cash. Cash Shuffle is pretty good, but Dash's privacy is on the protocol level and Dash has multiple round mixing which provides much, much larger anonymity sets than Cash Shuffle does.

I didn't read the title properly. Please do NOT accept "bitcoin cash". It is a complete scam and garbage run by frauds. It has no use case. Everyone calls is BTRASH

I was about to suggest BCH as a payment option, but it seems it's already been suggested many times, and the team has even said it's planned.
I am just commenting to emphasis the importance of this, with CashShuffle and CashFusion BCH is one of the best cryptos for privacy, and make a great combination for protonmail.
I will upgrade my account as soon as it's added.

It's now been two years and what looks to me like a relatively straightforward decision has actully been taken and this is currently "planned" - but no action has been taken since 2018.

It would be good to get some feedback and know why this hasn't been implemented yet.

I have asked many times in the past and recently wanted to start my new business on proton as the email and future calendar platform. However I found another provider that supports bitcoin cash. Bitcoin cash has significant although not perfect privacy options (monero and dash are certainly not perfect either) through CashShuffle and soon CashFusion protocols. Hopefully proton will get there some day.
