Increase storage
Increase storage or create a an email downloading vault to store old emails and free space in the account!

With the new domain, rebranding and pricing we also increased available storage significantly (https://proton.me/pricing). Marking this as done - for any new ideas regarding this please open a separate topic.

Maybe price per gigabyte, that way I can choose how much space is needed?

Asking for *more* free stuff? What? C'mon guys, ante up!
Dig deep and cough up a few dollars to help the developers implement a simple, reliable, secure email system for the world. Clearly there's a need for the service, and clearly the people who implement the service need to eat, and pay their bills!

I'd be happy to pay for more storage if it was an option and I needed. I've grown tired of the compromises I need to make for free storage.

I think that this is a great idea for people who want the space but are willing to donate for it. Although, I don't think that's allowed since they are not crowd funding anymore. I don't think all users should be given 5GB unless the space is readily available.

Dude, they barely have enough space for all the users they have today. 5GB's asking for a bit much.

You'd be hard-pressed to find ANYONE who gives you 5GB of storage that's TRULY free. Most services that give you that much (or more) "free" storage are marketing your personal info to outside parties. That's how they make their money. The fact is, you're going to pay for extra storage one way or the other. Do you want to pay with your wallet or your privacy? The choice is yours.

Privacy is not free. I'm ready to pay premium once the iOS App and Custom Domain is available.

I agree with @Robert, @traveller1 and @Edge, a service like this SHOULDN'T be completely free. You have Gmail/Yahoo/etc for that, with the big downsides of no privacy and ads. I would pay for more space. I hope more anonymous payment systems will be implemented, like Paypal or Bitcoin.

My current gmail account uses about 5GB and it gets used for just about everything (hopefully it will get replaced with this though). I'd be happy to see a bit more free, but willing to pay (assuming reasonable price of course) for ~5GB. Others here have suggested features to easily remove attachments. That sounds terrific too and would help a lot to keep the storage needs down.

Thank you for your interest in ProtonMail. We will offer additional storage in the future.

Would love to see more storage space in general, and an increase in the daily allotment of "forwards" that would prevent getting so easily blocked out of my account, but would still allow good screening of "spammers".

You are being offered a free email account with something that Google or Yahoo won't even consider giving you, which is privacy and no ads. I am certainly willing to pay for more storage.

I would agree, if that would not appreciably cause server problems. I would also be willing to pay for folder space.

Yes, I would like, but I am also grateful for the current Protonmail and the 500mb freebie. Having said that, 500mb is not a lot these days (I can remember...). How about the ability to delete attachments, without also deleting the email? That would free up space, but also preserve the actual message.

I wouldn't mind having more space, as long as it doesn't interfere with things elsewhere that may compromise security. I rather have Protonmail spend their money where it needs to go and I suck it up with only 500MB for now and then increase it as they see fit.
We can't be too picky for free, and they (and I) want to keep it that way. It's definitely the best option out there when you look at the whole. Security, layout, user-friendliness, and storage. Places like Hushmail gives you 3MB! for free... talk about limits. Other services give you 100MB for free and only if you check you email at least every 2 weeks. I can go 3 weeks+ without checking an email I rarely use. Protonmail is the best option I've seen when looking at the whole body of work.
I would really appreciate 2GB, as I would start directing more things there, but for now I just use it for text-based emails that don't take up that much.

more space is a must if one wants to be serious about the account. I will gladly pay for more. 2 GB is the norm for most accounts..

I would even be more than happy to pay for 2GB of storage. the 500mb is way to low for me.

Yes, 2 GB please. Tutanota already offers 1 with no waiting upon sign-up. Why is storage/allowing users in so difficult?
