7 votes? This is an EMAIL service, it already needs a lot of improvement and people are working for it without even being paid. How do you expect them to also work on an OS, desktop client, and some other user even said encrypted storage service? 1. Services like that already exist, and are pretty good for their purpose 2. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. That's what we're already doing with Google, we're more or less giving them access to everything by using their email (Gmail), video (Youtube), social networking (Google+), storage (Drive), OS (Android), browser (Chrome) and search services.

I agree to @traveller1, this is a whole other business. Protonmail still lacks a lot of basic e-mail functionalities, so let's concentrate on that. As for a good encrypted storage, I would recommend Wuala. There are lots of services out there, but I liked how they implemented everything.

It was an unpleasant surprise for me when I hit the label limit. It's not like it occupies space or anything, it's just metadata. So why this arbitrary restriction? Please increase it to 9999999.

We have given this quite a bit of thought, but at the present moment, it is not clear the advantages would outweigh the disadvantages.
The biggest problem is search. Encrypting all metadata would break metadata search entirely on the web client as there is still no efficient way to handle search of encrypted data within a browser.
Secondly, metadata encryption’s value from a privacy standpoint is also somewhat dubious. Because we ultimately must deliver the message to the recipient, we must know who the recipient is. At the current time, there still isn’t any proven and viable way to work around this.
Metadata encryption is an area of continued research for us, and when the opportunity arises and the technology for doing this matures, we will definitely implement it in ProtonMail.

I agree with the comment below, it would be advisible to notify the non-proton user offline. You have to communicate him/her the password anyway.
