Family Plan
Visionary is way too much of space, addresses and domains!
Normal family would use not more than 1GB per user and no more than single custom domain.
Main points for improvement:
- Increase the users to 10
- Decrease storage to 5GB total
- Decrease custom domains to 1
- Remove ProtonVPN
And then have price around 10EUR/month to be truly affordable.
Thanks for your feedback! Family plans are available: https://proton.me/support/get-started-proton-family
For additional suggestions, please create a new feature request.

Please change the billing to allow an additional user for "plus" accounts with a maximum of 2 users as to not steal business from the "Pro" sales.
Cost breakdown:
1 user / 2 users +$1.75/month
5 gb / shared data / saves $3.75/month
5 addresses / shared addresses / saves $0.75/month
1 domain / shared domain / saves $1.50/month
$48 annual / $65 annual -

How many members are in your family that would use this email? In the case of you and a spouse, you could purchase the "Plus" plan, and at the bottom it says you can get more addresses for the one user (which you two could share the login), which would only cost:
" € 1.00 / month or € 9 / year per 5 addresses"And then you can set up free accounts for your kid(s) and don't have to feel bad as you are already paying them an amount you can afford.
Prices are at https://protonmail.com/pricing

I would immediately buy a family plan with the same features as the free plan, provided that it additionally offered (a) 4-5 distinct email accounts (possibly with constrained usernames, such as a.myname, b.myname, c.myname, d.myname), and (b) IMAP, or at least the possibility to bulk export messages from the web client. (Bulk exporting should be in the free plan, too, IMO…).
Of course, the price should be reasonable… like a Plus account.

Not so sure about this parent Spying Stuff.
But I would love to bring my Family to Protonmail as well, but 5 Bucks for everyone (5) of us is way to expensive just for eMail Accounts... -

Please make Multiple User feature available to Plus accounts. A visionary account is cost inhibitive for family use.

What features specifically that aren't provided in the free plan?

This should be an easy option to implement as it would be a scaled down version of the your Professional plan, but of course the pricing needs to be tweaked as well. The professional plan will work out to be too expensive for a family of 4 or more.

The price is too high for a family. I would like to support protonmail and use it for non-commercial usbut would like to see a family plan.

Lot of good ideas : a nice beginning would be 5 boxes with same encryption code instead of 5 addresses for the same box. You can't use it professionnaly (same code), but it's worth 5$ / month for the family. That give the ability to manage all boxes without killing professional accounts.

I have been waiting for 2 years for a family plan now.
With the current Professional plan (only this one allows that) a family of 4 members will pay 300 Euros per year just for having a custom email address.
Add that to the agreement that it only can be used for the non-commercial purposes or similar and max 5 users per domain.
And you will have to compete with the services like Office365 on pricing.

I am happy to donate up to $100 per year for my family. I will be an extremely light user (we all will). Family can be defined as children under 18, with one or two parents?

I have a paid protonmail account for which my husband, daughter, and I have separate protonmail eddress. My hub and I prefer to use proton for quick messages throughout the day instead of Apple or Verizon or other text/email services. My hub has an iPhone, and so has the Protonmail app on his phone. I use web-based Protonmail while at my desk at work. My request is for a feature, or setting within the app, that would allow notification for only one of the 5 eddresses under our account of 5 eddresses, so my hub does not receive notifications for all new mail coming to my or my daughter's protonmail eddresses.

A Family Plan is most welcome.
I think children should be able to have a private and secure email (and hopefully also soon a calender) from the beginning. The Professional and Visionary plans aren't targeted at families. As a family we don't need the unlimited sending options, or the 20 GB, and those plans become quite expensive with 4 or more members of the family.
It could still have the same features and limits as the Plus plan, 1000 mails a day and 5GB for the entire family, 1 custom domain etc. so it wont be used by companies/professionals. But it should include for instance 5 family members total.
I don't think children are as heavy users as adults and I think there should be a discount when the entire family goes to the same provider.
A good and reasonable price for a Family Plan with 5 members could for instance be the double price of a normal Plus Account. -

This would be a plan that allows for 2-6 (preferably a bit more even or infinite as a small increasing cost) mail boxes under a single custom domain. Currently this is available only as a "Professional" option, presumably aimed at small companies. For my family of 2 parents and 1 kid that would set me back 18.75 euros a month. This would be for 2-3 emails a day for each user. I like Protonmail, I really do, but this is more than 6 times what I pay now for those 3 mailboxes under 1 domain. As a company I might pay for that, personally I think it is too steep.
I think there are many privacy conscious families with their own custom domain. These families typically consist of 2 parents and 1-4 kids. In fact, with the bridge option becoming available I almost singed up, but then I found that what you call email addresses are in fact aliases and not mailboxes.
I understand I'm asking for a cheaper service and that is usually pretty stupid, so I'd like you to interpret this as me asking for a plan that is more family focused than the Professional plan.
Highest regards.

With IMAP Bridge released, the plan was to add a user for my wife on our family domain, but sadly PLUS only cover single-user support. It is too expensive to go for Professional or Visionary for just 2 users. Half the price of Professional for up to 5 users would perhaps be reasonable. Limited storage and number of folders, mails/day etc. would also be OK for private use.

I'm on the visionary plan and can add up to 50 e-mails for up to 5 different people. However, as the admin, am I the only one allowed to have an "@protonmail.com" e-mail address? Would love to assign each family member a protonmail address instead of being restricted to custom domains only for them....

As you can read here: https://protonmail.com/blog/protonmail-v3-8-release-notes/ (topmost comment) there won't be any separate accounts under a PLUS subscription. You will need to buy the future professional plans, which are ridiculously expensive:
"Professional plans will be priced at $8/month per account and you can add as many accounts as you want. So for 2 people, two professional accounts would be $16. For 3-5 users, the Visionary plan is the best deal because that is fixed at $24/month." (Admin)
That's 192$/year for two separate accounts and 288$/year for three and more separate accounts. So please back this feature request: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-feedback/suggestions/18627634-multi-user-support-for-plus-subscription
