You could always use static password mode and TOPT via the yubikey on protonmail

C'mon guys. I want to stay with ProtonMail but I'm getting rid of my smartphone, so I need something that supports a physical key. Plus much safer.

Of the following, what support are you asking for: WebAuthn, FIDO2 CTAP1, FIDO2 CTAP2, Universal 2nd Factor (U2F), Smart card (PIV-compatible), Yubico OTP, OATH – HOTP (Event), OATH – TOTP (Time), Open PGP, Secure Static Password
You can use your Yubikey with ProtonMail today for TOTP. Simply use the same seed for the 2FA app on your mobile as well as your YubiKey - both will produce the same OTP.
Clearly this is not as good as other modes of the YubiKey... but it's a start, making your account more secure and without having to have your phone nearby all the time! -

Please add YubiKey feature. It would be great to have it implemented directly into authentication without any 3rd party 2FA app.
I had protonmail 2FA setup on my phone using a good open source 2FA app.
Though my phone (android 11, unrooted) has been repeatedly hacked remotely. So the 2FA info stored in the app also was compromised.
I ended up deleting Protonmail app and 2FA app from my phone. I now use a Yubico key for all google sign-ins, and mostly done on OSX. I sign onto protonmail only via computer, which is protected by a strict mac firewall called LuLu, and also my 2FA app is downloaded on mac.
I'd propose Yubikey as the uttermost urgent implementation.

I would love it if we could get support for fido2 hardware keys like the Yubikey. That would make me very happy.
I'm only giving my idea one vote because I 3 voted all the other requests for this. -

Agree with everyone here, supporting yubikey would absolutely rock. Please remember, most of us have multiple hardware keys.

Lack of FIDO U2F support is jarring for a privacy- and security-focused company.

The missing support for hardware tokens, Yubikey specifically, is the only thing stopping me from fully adopting or endorsing Protonmail to others. Please prioritize this feature!
