Different passwords for mail, vpn, and drive
If I am to use ProtonMail, ProtonVPN, and ProtonDrive on a number of devices, it seems to me that having all of these secured by a single passphrase is an unacceptable risk. Having the option to secure each of these with a different password would be a significant improvement. Indeed, without this, I think I will be very reluctant to use all of these and rely upon them.

It's a good idea. For example, ProtonVPN could have a separate password, as there’s nothing stored on it—nothing critical that could compromise anyone. Proton Wallet should offer the option to use distinct passwords, should the user wish, and the same should apply to Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Mail. If the user desires, they should have the option to assign individual passwords to each service. However, it’s important to emphasize that this should be optional, activated only by those who choose to do so. It would be a valuable option.

Allow users to have separate passwords for each Proton service they use. This would mean being able to set separate passwords for Mail, Drive, Pass, VPN, and Wallet.
The issue was also brought up here https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/953584-proton-pass/suggestions/46727686-separate-password-for-proton-pass but was incorrectly marked complete when they added an extra password feature to pass which is not the same thing.

Right now, I can set a password for Proton and a separate password for my email. This is convenient because I often use a VPN, and a single password is not enough. However, I don’t want to grant access to my email just because I used a VPN somewhere. Other services don’t offer this option.
I propose keeping the ability to use a universal Proton password but also allowing each service to have its own password.
This is very useful because I also frequently use a VPN at work. I use a simple Proton password to log into the VPN while ensuring no one can access my email. I would like to keep a simple password because I often need to log in from a colleague’s phone using a VPN due to network restrictions. I don’t want to use complex passwords in such cases.
At the same time, I am not suggesting 2FA—that’s a different thing. Nor am I asking for separate authentication for each service—that’s not what I mean.

I very much agree and have made my own post about this on the Proton Wallet page. This company says they want the highest security, this would be another huge step.

That would really increase security.
I also don't like putting my email credentials in my Android tv box.

This is a must for me! It must be able to set a different password for every service.

Still no change on this matter by Proton. There must be different passwords for VPN and mail !!!

As others pointed out, this is a massivly needed feature.
Make it optional, so that you can use a single password login if you want. But I don't consider using and paying for VPN oder Drive as long as there is no multi-password option. -

I concur.
This feature is absolutely needed.
I will not consider using proton drive until this feature is available. -

Me also, i don't understand why a privacy and security first company like ProtonMail/VPN does this this way. MAIL and VPN are DIFFERENT services/systems so it has to have DIFFERENT PASSWORDS.
Thanks to fix that as fast as possible or to send the appropriated solution!Don't come up with solutions like:
- Make two different accounts and pay twice.
- Take a VPN somewhere else and keep it seperated.
- and other things that i read on the web.So, thanks for a appropriate secure solution direct from Proton itself.

I find your comments very interesting.
And for this reason I will not sign up for ProtonVPN until this feature is an option by default.
Thanks colleagues! -

Seconding this, this is pretty essential stuff. In no other VPN service are your VPN credentials also your email credentials (and thus have access to literally everything else) as it is with ProtonVPN.
This MUST be addressed ASAP. I purchased ProtonVPN without really thinking this through. Really like the service, but this makes me feel uneasy, and I hope they will fix this soon.

As VPN will be used in multiple devices at once, the credentials needs to be different for ProtonVPN and ProtonMail which helps to improve further security. At least this feature needs to be optional.
If I login to ProtonVPN on my home devices, it wouldn't take much time for anyone to open ProtonMail and read emails.

I very much agree with this. For an example of how to design and implement it, TorGuard VPN has such a feature.

This is effectively a duplicate of this one: https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-protonmail/suggestions/38854360-password-on-vpn-with-username-should-be-different
I suggest to vote on that.

Hi, really don't like the idea of using the same username and password for VPN as the account itself. Especially as I'd like my son to be able to use the VPN on his (my) device. Any chance you can change this please.

Because people are going to be keeping their most secret secrets on Proton drive . . . . . . you should let it have a password separate from all other Proton products
