This has now become a high priority. Signal messenger can't be trusted, at least not in the U.S. A public figure recently shared about how their Signal account was tapped and the gov. didn't deny it when confronted.

People really wanting this should remove their votes here and add them to https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/935538-other-payment-methods-products-etc/suggestions/32646004-protonmail-messaging-app instead, as that suggestion has already attracted 680 votes as of May 9, 2022.

It is the most interesting information for us. I can say thanks from the bottom of the heart for continuous efforts from You. Win $1000 with https://patronsurveys.com/www-survey-walmart-com/

Issue 1943: Signal: Incoming call can be connected without user
Using a modified client, it is possible to send the „connect” message to a callee device when an incoming call is in progress, but has not yet been accepted by the user. This causes the call to be answered, even though the user has not interacted with the device. The connected call will only be an audio call, as the user needs to manually enable video in all calls.

This already exists in the VPN with the decentralised social media so long as you keep your end secure

Instead of developing Proton Chat, just create a joint development project with Threema. Same country and completely anonymous (doesn't even require phone number.)

No - please concentrate on more core features first such as ProtonDrive, ProtonCalendar, 2FA/FIDO2, maybe a ProtonVault...
Messengers are 10 to a penny and perfectly good solutions like Wire or Signal already exist.
If you must have a messenger client would it not make sense to make some sort of alliance with one of these? Also what email service we use doesn't limit who we interact with... There are too many messenger services as it is...

Even better, add a Proton Phone# with ProtonChat/Messenger.
Or see what other partnerships can be formed with companies already working on this like Wire, Signal, Telegram, etc.

No, we don't need yet another chat and call network, yet another app to try and convince our friends and family to switch to.
Just use Signal.

There already is a really good secure app like this out there, it's called Wire, and it's also based in Switzerland, if I'm not mistaken. It's partly built from the same code as Signal (endorsed by none other than Edward Snowden of NSA fame).
It would be quite a project for Proton Mail to take something like this on, but maybe some kind of alliance with Wire down the line could be possible, who knows. Their ethos is somewhat similar, it seems.
