Linux supported equally
Linux is very popular among privacy concerned users, who make up a large chunk of Proton's userbase. However, Proton fails to provide any solid Linux apps and frequently leaves them unmaintained or released years after the initial product launch. Proton should make Linux a first-class platform, with proper support from day one.

Absolutely, Linux should be a priority over Windows, especially in a community like this one!

I don't know what will happen with Windows in 2025, but I think it would be very positive for Proton to be able to provide an excellent service for Linux in case there is a massive migration. Because currently the services on that OS are not good enough.

Proton Drive was launched a year ago and they still haven't figured out a way to sync files on Linux, this is so disappointing.

Flatpaks would be great

I would especially welcome an official repository to facilitate installing, updating and verifying proton software. Most normal users don't really know what to do with checksums and signatures and why would they when they have a package manager that does all this for them

I'm a linux only user. If there isn't a way of doing it on linux I'm just paying to subsidize windows/mac users. So if you don't want people like me to move on as soon as there is a viable linux alternative, then make linux an equal priority.

For me this mostly applies to the drive app. I only use mail clients on mobile, I prefer the browser on desktop. And, while I’m sure it takes some reworking, once you have an app working on most distros, I hope it’s relatively simple to ********* Synology NAS.

Both repository and flatpak would be ideal.

I would like to suggest that Proton applications be made available via repository or PPA. This would unify the way applications are installed.

I support this idea!

I no longer experience problems using protonvpn. I would love to see a Linux version of drive soon since that's the only part of the proton suite I don't use a lot since there's no Linux sync app yet

Sono passato a Linux anche vedendo il logo in Proton che faceva presumere una certa stabilità ma ci sono parecchie lacune da migliorare.

I want to switch to Linux, since Windows 11 is becoming worse for privacy with every update. Sadly, the Proton Drive App is about the only App I regularly use that has no Linux version.

@get better - Linux *is* a first class platform. Which is why Proton apps should be completely on par with the other platforms.

To put my voice in here as well, I've been in entire teams or departments that are exclusively Linux. I see some comments about how linux isn't as popular, but for backend development, it's most all I've ever seen. I want to move to a proton stack for my current team but the lack of parity with Linux is a pretty painful sticking point.

I have no access to Windows or Mac machines and this would be extremely useful.

Full Linux parity with Windblows and macOS should be an absolute priority. I use mainly Linux and very little Windows 10, and it's absolutely vital for Linux support to be brought fully up to speed.

Greeting fellow penguins, this is a great idea and I see often see the sentiment "If you put full Linux support on the roadmap, I'll get a paid account". So I made a suggestion just for that:

Agreed. The Proton VPN app is terrible and slow on Linux. Back when PIA was trustworthy, their Linux app was great. If they could do it, why can't anyone else?
