Contact Application
I suggest that Proton develop a contact application similar to the Contact application that Apple has.

If I'm not mistaken, earlier versions of Proton has a contact app, then I believe it was removed for some reason. I agree, we need full blown app (again?) with ability to manage all the typical attributes.

This may seem trivial - but for the desktop and the mobile app arena it would be important. If you could have Proton Specific apps that address core computing needs -- you can have an ecosystem that works across platforms. From a Linux perspective - you could have a defect Proton Desktop with Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Drive, Notes and Tasks all integrated and with a common UI/UX.

Looks like a ton of interest in this. It would add value to the serves we have, and i would be willing to pay a few dollars more for the addition. Anything that keeps my information out of the hands of goggle, Microsoft, and Apple is a plus.

This idea seems similar to an older one (with the most votes @2025-03-09):

Just adding my voice to the many others. As I use gmail less and less I'd prefer to not have to keep updating my contacts through Google when Proton is my primary source for most of the things I get done on my phone.

Many apps require access to my phone’s contact app. As a result, I do not manage my contacts on the official phone app. I would greatly appreciate a Proton contact app where I can securely store my contacts.

This is a much needed feature for myself and the community! A robust, contact management app would round out the Proton package. What are you guys waiting for?

fully agreeing, definitely and absolutely agreeing. We need a contact application
2 reasons:
- confort of use
- confidentiality. What is the value of having a secure email system if all your contacts are visible ? Most of us are aware that even encrypted mails show the recipients and the subject line, but showing **all** your contacts, including multiple email-adresses, including those with whom you phone, is yet another thing !I really appreciate protonmail. To me, the missing contact application is the major problem of protonmail.

While the contacts app in the mail client is better than nothing, it's unwieldy and unusable by those that use contacts frequently. It requires too many interactions to find our contacts and doesn't integrate well with other apps.
For the most part, we're better of using the default contacts app on our devices, which I have to do with my extensive contact lists.
Please make this happen soon, a standalone Proton Contacts app would be a huge godsend! Thanks for reading.

Please. My contacts contain some of my most private data, as others have mentioned. It would fit in perfectly with the Proton environment, which is something I've been looking for for years as a substitute to Google Contacts. thank you so much https://fmapps.org

This, notes, and maps would complete the proton ecosystem for me! 10/10 company and service. I’ve convinced dozens of people to make the switch (and personally worked with them on setting up their password manager).
