Default SMS app
Since Samsung is discontinuing it's Messenger+ app and recommending Google Messages, why not have a Proton SMS app replacing the default SMS

An interoperable SMS app with the existing one like "Silence" and the one on GraphemOS would be great. eOS should do that on their own SMS app too.
Yes that would be great.
Signal should make that happend too as an optional feature. -

SMS is not secure.

Signal sent messages to users saying their messaging was no longer secure and said something to the effect of sharing stories or something to that effect so I stopped using it. Would love proton to add that to the package.

THIS is an absolute MUST have! I do NOT trust having Google relaying and possibly viewing my messages no matter if they claim it to be encrypted.

This would be interesting, however 2 things:
1) SMS is inherently insecure and there are some alternative SMS apps like Silence that work okay with minimal features and aren't google. I think Signal really has dominated the market of messages and Proton would have a hard time competing.
2) The most private mobile OS is GrapheneOS and they offer their own default SMS app that works fine. It's still inherently insecure because the SMS protocol is outdated, but it works.
I would welcome a Proton SMS app because why not, but I recommend just buying a Google Pixel device and installing GrapheneOS.
