2025 Summer Roadmap Feedback
I've been using Proton for about nine years and have always been enthusiastic and supportive, but now I'm beginning to wonder if Proton has jumped the shark. For the past couple of years almost all development effort seems toward serving recovering Google addicts. I was never deep into the Googleshere, yet one of the reasons that I switched to Proton was to have an un-Google experience. I think it is a bad policy for any company to try to serve the whims of customers: better to do what you are good at and provide services that are sound and well directed. Preoccupation with Docs and photos seems unserious and is a real turn off to me. I think the Proton apps are really good and don't see the need to direct extreme effort to Googlefy everything. I only have a few small non-Google asks: 1) Create consistency among the apps so that they all have the same look, feel, options, and general organization - so far the strongest unifying element seems to be the color scheme; 2) Create a simple Proton app that houses all the apps in one place - this would lend to consistency and ease of use; and 3) Please follow through with previously promised Drive enhancements that seem to have been dropped: a) multiple logins on Mac OS, and b) the ability to sync individual folders in Mac Finder without the need to dump everything into the Proton Drive folder.
