1. Commit to remaining free of any and all AI tools

   Proton, so far, has been a bastion of "the Internet we actually wanted". This is why it was so disheartening to see that the company is now seriously considering integrating GenAI into its suite of tools.

   As the tide of big tech moves toward forcing AI tools into the face of every user, the existence of a platform that is explicitly not doing this is a breath of fresh air. There is no reason to "innovate for the sake of innovation". Let your competitors waste their time and energy being late to the party with the 80th, 90th, and 100th AI tools to come to market.

   Beyond the user experience, there is a plethora of moral reasons to avoid this AI plague:

   • The mass exploitation of human labour used to tag inputs for these models
   • The environmental effects of generating power used to train them
   • The obscene amount of fresh drinking water diverted toward cooling
   • The degradation of information quality, as the human knowledge encoded in language is substituted with statistical approximations

   Please, reconsider this. It's been refreshing to use a platform that wasn't mindlessly chasing big tech trends, and to lose that now would give me an extremely disappointing reason to go searching once again for alternatives.

2. Focus on functionality and feature parity on existing products

   Proton should really focus on building with feature parity in mind. Most of their products work differently depending on the OS and that's not a good experience. Plenty of people use different OS (for example both Windows and Mac computers, the wife with Android, the husband with iPhone and the tech kid on Linux.

   STOP overmoderating, STOP spreading thin your resources and FOCUS.

I also had a fantastic experience with Proton Docs (Drive) customer service, who the agent (who I will not name for PRIVACY) did a great job of assisting me. This shows Proton can communicate effectively.

This ironic and dismissive reply perfectly encapsulates the core problem: a challenge in engaging with feedback about the platform itself.

   While comprehensive, constructive feedback (like this post) is declined, a highly critical post titled "Stop being a greedy subscription-pushing enterprise" (99 votes - https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/935538-accounts-payments/suggestions/49048040-stop-being-a-greedy-subscription-pushing-enterpris) remains [OPEN 🟢] on the front page. I do not know this comes about. This suggests a varied approach to moderation that appears to limit engagement with direct critiques of platform management while allowing other feedback.

   Continued Neglect of [🟠PLANNED] items:
   The "iPad iOS Version" idea (138 votes - https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail/suggestions/11555208-ipad-ios-version-rather-than-stretched-iphone-vers), marked [🟠PLANNED] in 2016, remains unfulfilled and un-updated after 9 years.
   (By the way, an iPad version is still strangely non-existent, the new Proton Mail iOS app might fix this, but so far there's been no updates.)

   Technical Issues:
   The platform itself displays technical errors (e.g., CORS policy blocking images from S3), adding to the sense of disrepair. (Hint, for devtools, press F12 or ⌥+⌘+I)

   This pattern of behavior suggests a need for improved management of community voice, to ensure UserVoice functions as a tool for engagement rather than perceived silencing.
   I urge for change.

   • Separated Mailboxes
   • Improved Docs

   I understand the excitement of launching new products, but a solid foundation matters more than a wide product range. Quality over quantity, please!

A Proton Admin on Reddit even contradicted Lumo's logging claims, and the official website still hasn't been corrected, showing a severe lack of follow-through. More issues like spam on the forums, unclosed completed ideas, and responses that never come make this an unignorable issue.

    + Proton Office : Place store Documents , Sheet , Slide for Business and Work . Can Edit and View Docs With Everyone ( Add Password Feature to make it more secure ) and include who don't have a proton account can view
    + Proton Photo : Instead View Some Videos And Images just from Proton Drive ( Like Google Drive And Google Photo ) for who just want store photos , maybe this product i think can be good maybe ;) , Proton can add or not is Proton's choice
    + Proton Form : Place for Everyone can put thier Information without be watching
    + Proton Family Manager : Parent can easily Watch thier kids doing ( because some family want thier family more privacy but still in control )

12. Improve Proton Mail!

    Please improve Proton Mail - fast!!! If Proton had a forum, I'd ask this there. Ever since the update with the new UI, emails take FOREVER to open. 5+ minutes. I cannot use Proton Mail like this on a daily basis. Please find a fix for this! The new Proton Mail app is supposed to be faster and improved, but this just made it slower and worse. Please fix this soon!

    This has been removed as it goes against this rule. If you have specific ways in which Mail can be improved, please raise them as feature requests or improvements for those products.

13. Proton Mail down: "Internal server error"

    Proton Mail fails to load. I see an "Internal server error" error message. This started happening within the hour.

    Meanwhile, the official Proton Services Status page blindly reports "All Systems Operational." There's a disconnect between the Mail service and the status report.

    The apps are always automatically checking for and updating themselves (on Windows & macOS) -- if unsure you can always reinstall the app and compare version numbers before and after, however you will receive app updates regularly across all of our apps by default.

16. Proton Meet: Feedback

    Proton Meet has been great so far and I have really enjoyed it!

    Suggestions I have had from people who have used it with me:

    1. Be able to see other people's video/faces while screen sharing

    2. Adding a waiting room and/or password to meeting

    3. Adding emotes to chat responses

    4. Improved background effects

    5. Ability to record a meeting (with consent of participants) and store in proton drive

    In lieu of my previous comment on big tech and privacy, please consider joining the Fediverse. Personally I am on Mastodon. X and BlueSky are not part of the solution.

    Mastodon is way better place to have a converstation than this forum that forces me to share feedback by logging in through Facebook or Google, whilst my name and IP address is getting permanently stored.

    This is the end of UserVoice for me, and I have no intention to continue posting without change.

    I’m a Visionary who’s used Proton for ages. But I can’t anymore.

    As many of you know, I have been attempting to highlight systemic issues with community engagement and transparency on this platform and others. My recent comprehensive post on "User Neglect" was officially

    DECLINED❌

    with a dismissive statement from a Proton Admin:

    "Uservoice is for raising feature requests; please focus on improvements or new functionality for Proton products."

    This response is a clear confirmation of my thesis. This platform is not a place for genuine critical feedback or accountability. It is a one-way suggestion box, curated by Proton for its own internal purposes.

    Through my research, I have discovered a pattern of behavior that shows this has been the case since the platform's inception. Proton Admins have been posting their own ideas on this platform for years, often leaving them to sit for years before being marked
    STARTED or COMPLETED✅. This suggests that UserVoice has been, and continues to be, more of an internal road-mapping tool than a true channel for two-way communication.

    This conclusion is further supported by the bizarre inconsistency in moderation, where a profane post can remain untouched while a detailed, evidence-based critique is immediately shut down. The problem extends beyond this platform, as I've found evidence of Proton moderators on Reddit issuing outright permanent bans (see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/addy_io/comments/1lhpmck/comment/mz6mlbt/)

    and removing content, directly contradicting public statements that they "don’t remove negative content" (a claim contradicted by this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/1lct606/comment/my3dy8e/).

    Because this platform is not a viable channel for the kind of important discussion that needs to happen, this will be my final post here. I will continue my advocacy on platforms where my voice cannot be censored. I invite you to read my full report, with all of the evidence I have collected, and join the conversation there.
