[Lumo] Custom bot feature
I can't find the Proton Lumo below 'Give feedback' on the right column so I'm posting here.
I'm using bots everyday and find the custom bot feature very important. Just some text config and a name for a custom bot should be nice.
Sometimes the generic mood of the bot is not so prefered, a custom bot with fixed info to define a personal assistant in owner's style is good to have. The fitting style of language is better for conversation, like a pal, not a stranger.
Some guys are with such custom bot and free: Gemini Gem, Instagram AI Studio.

It’s great to see discussions around customizable bots, especially since most people interact with AI assistants daily and often feel limited by a generic, one-size-fits-all experience. Platforms like https://mystalk.online/ demonstrate how giving users simple tools to personalize bot behavior, tone, and style can completely change the experience. Even small customization options, like naming a bot or adjusting its conversational mood, can make interactions feel more natural and enjoyable. When AI assistants are designed with the user in mind, they can become much more than a tool—they start to feel like a helpful companion rather than a rigid program.
The ability to fine-tune bots to match a familiar tone or act as a friendly companion is especially valuable for users who want AI to feel more personal and approachable. Services like https://stealthgram.online/ highlight how privacy-friendly and secure platforms can still provide meaningful customization options. By letting users control language style, conversational quirks, or the type of responses their bot gives, these platforms make AI interactions feel more human and engaging. When combined with privacy-conscious design, this approach ensures that users can interact confidently, knowing their data and personal preferences are respected.
For anyone who wants to understand the broader picture of building ethical and responsible AI, OpenAI offers excellent guidance on user-centered design and privacy-conscious AI practices at https://openai.com/research . Their research explores ways to balance AI functionality with personalization, ethical standards, and user trust, which is exactly what makes customizable AI assistants so powerful and safe. Following these principles ensures that bots not only perform their tasks effectively but also provide interactions that are meaningful, secure, and aligned with users’ individual needs.

Also I have to agree with Dan Dinh; a straight text prompt, with no animated interactive element, comes across as creepy to me, like something out of movies like "Wargames" or "Tron".

I'm going to suggest that this be merged with the "Lumo API" request; if someone can create a tool, then they can modify or create a plugin for that tool using the API. It's a big issue for the engineers to consider, especially since Lumo's, like Proton's overall architecture, is not open-source.

the option to personalize the bot would be nice. the blog post announcing Lumo mentioned how other chat bots are cold and corporate or something along those lines, but if you look past the cat mascot then Lumo is no different or even less personal than some other solutions. DuckDuckGo recently implemented a customization feature to their AI chat bot service and notably included a playful "Ducky" preset for the bot's tone, which adds some duck-related verbal fluff to the bot's output
