Moving to an in-house forum sounds reasonable, especially if Proton can maintain the same level of privacy and security across its products. Better spam controls and closer integration could also make discussions easier to manage. The main challenge would be migrating existing discussions without losing useful feedback or community history. I think gathering user preferences before making the switch would help too. For smaller decisions where there are several options to weigh, tools like https://decidal.com/ can make the choice a little easier.

Hello,
Improving Proton often comes down to better compatibility, clearer error reporting, and smoother performance across a wider range of applications. Community feedback is especially valuable because it highlights real-world issues developers might miss. Continuous refinement and maintenance are key in any service, which is why I found the practical approach to quality and upkeep discussed at https://cleanify.co.nz/ quite relatable. -

There has been a large influx of spam lately. This is definitely needed.

The spam prevention seems really needed, saw some suggestion for more storage space, and there were multiple comments advertising for their services, one even linked to an modified version of the thing they advertised.

They could easily do this by self hosting discourse
