Andy Yen steps aside
The user base most likely to go all-in with Proton are the least likely to approve of Yen's AI delirium. (I'm referencing the latest 404 Media article.)
We don't want a product that is AI coded. And we don't want the people hard at work, making Proton a viable alternative to big tech, being treated like garbage - like they work for Big Tech.
Proton needs a new CEO.

You need to fix this quick, need to treat your employees better and stop with the 'move fast and break stuff'-attitude. I pay for Proton to get away from this kinda BS.

Andy Yen clearly does not understand the interest Proton's users have in using Proton. We have been very patient over 12 years watching Proton grow. We don't want "fast". We want right. We want software built by people. And we want the people building Proton to feel proud of their work and happy to be doing it.
Want to see Proton crash and burn? Because this is how you make Proton crash and burn.
Andy Yen needs to go. He is the antithesis of everything people came to Proton to get away from.

The utter disrespect for your engineers is shocking. For that reason, I'm out.

If Proton wants to enshittify itself, there are already much better products out there that have been enshittified, and they're free. We're here because that's exactly what we want to avoid, and we've been committed enough to be willing to pay to avoid it. Guess what happens if Proton keeps going down this road.

I migrated from gmail less than 2 weeks ago.
And now I'll migrate to competition.
I don't want a critical software, for which I pay, be fully AI slop.
Also that work culture...

Significant changes to Proton's business philosophy and leadership need to be made in order for the company to know it has a long-term future. Otherwise, you'll continue to see cancellations for both the short-term and the long-term. This will lead to more employees leaving voluntarily and eventually, layoffs. Other companies/apps will continue to step up and eventually, Proton will wither to nothing.
This is a moment in time where Proton needs to choose whether or not it has a future.

Andy needs to be removed from Proton. This will not be a good image for Proton we all switched away from Google or Microsoft for a reason, but if Proton goes this path, then we are all well prepared to switch away from Proton.
We do not want AI Slop we want high quality human made software.

Fully agree.
This is not the attitude or management style befitting of a privacy-based organization.
This kills my trust in the brand.

Never would have thought that protonmail gets AI psychosis, but here we are
If there's not policy changes to ban use of AI with actual IT engineers, I will be cancelling my protonmail description and moving to other platforms. Unbelivable

This blind rush to replace competent engineers with inconsistent AI is too high risk for a security focused product. Add to that the toxic treatment of employees and you get a recipe for disaster.

I have both a family ultimate plan and a paid business plan for my small business on Proton and have been a customer for years. I have cancelled my renewal. If Andy Yen and Bart Butler do not very publicly leave the company, and are not replaced by people who understand that the only business of Proton is high quality, security, and trust, then I will never reactivate. If I wanted insecure slop from an evil company, I could have saved a lot of money and gone with Gsuite.

The behavior exposed by 404 Media is not in line with what users/subscribers to Proton want, and it will cost the company. We want an eco system created carefully with the goals of privacy and security baked in with intention, not any old AI slop that can make production fast.

Was just getting comfortable on proton and now i'm thinking about moving again to Tuta or similar. Even disregarding his atrocious AI stance, his conduct towards employees is grounds for immediate termination. I would strongly recommend that the board replace him before he further damages Proton's reputation.

I am horrified to see that Yen and other Proton leaders have succumbed to AI psychosis. This is not compatible with leading an organization like Proton that has built their brand on being secure and private.
Either the leadership goes or the customers will.
