I recently purchased a yearly subscription for Proton Unlimited, as I'm researching how to de-Big-Tech-ify myself. I was pretty excited, as I've used a free account a little bit for awhile, and thought this was the right move.
I am less than thrilled, for many reasons.
And the comments here in this thread make me so happy because I absolutely loathe the Mailing Lists feature. I've spent at least an hour trying to figure out how to disable this entirely and finally found this thread.
I'm not certain how a company that allegedly has 400 employees does not have any one with a significant background in Product who would've spoke up at some point and said, "Hey, this needs an on/off option", but here we are. I feel really ****** saying that, but this isn't the first time I've had that thought. I don't want to take a shot at people doing the work, but I literally don't get a lot of your decisions.
Sadly, I've been using PU for less than a month, and I'm already looking into alternatives, and this is a Big Reason Why.
Please address this.
Thank you.
Significant changes to Proton's business philosophy and leadership need to be made in order for the company to know it has a long-term future. Otherwise, you'll continue to see cancellations for both the short-term and the long-term. This will lead to more employees leaving voluntarily and eventually, layoffs. Other companies/apps will continue to step up and eventually, Proton will wither to nothing.
This is a moment in time where Proton needs to choose whether or not it has a future.
